There will be blood. Delicious blood.

<span class="bold">Vampire&reg;: The Masquerade - Bloodlines&trade;</span>, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is <span class="bold">Vampire&reg;: The Masquerade - Bloodlines&trade;</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at <span class="bold">Patches Scrolls</span>.

Hey, thanks for popping up here with another good explanation!

While I have no real interest myself in playing the game without the UP fixes, I like to keep as much options as possible available to the users of my ./play.it scripts. So it’s nice to see that it’s really easy to start either the patched or the vanilla game.

Thanks a lot for the explanation and for your great work, of course.
I just wanted to mention that there's this Vampire-specific forum but you're probably already aware of that.

Thanks for letting GOG use your work! :) Do you have a way people could donate to you?

vv221: Thanks for the sum up, now I’ve all the infos I need ;)

To all blood-sucking penguins out there, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on GNU/Linux has never been that easy to install:
Install the Vampire: The Masquerade games on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc.

Enjoy!

Big thanks to Thiev, JudasIscariot & wesp5 who all helped to make this installation script an easy one to write ;)

By the way. I encountered that rare missing fists bug in GOG release (after applying latest patch+ 9.5). So apparently it's still possible. I used the console to work around it. Just FYI.

Would also like to give a heartfelt thank you for all the work, time and effort you've put into restoring the game to what it should have been originally. =)
OK so i have a question, and i a sorry if it has been asked and answered before, but what is the difference between the "full" Unofficial patch 9,5 and the "Basic" version?

As much details as possible while answering will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

PS: Also, shouldn't this information regarding the 3rd party fixes also be displayed on the store page for the game? Right now the only way to be aware of it before purchasing is via this announcement that i am sure not 100% of the potential buyers will see.
The full Unofficial patch should in my opinion be offered as a "Goodies", and while we are at it, do the same with SWKotOR2 and the The Sith Lords - Restored Content MOD. In my opinion that kind of mods/unofficial patches are almost a must have for those games.

A lot of differences :) I tried finding the full list on-line, but didn't succeed. Wesp5 may be can post it. You can see actual changes in the readme that accompanies the patch though. I'm pasting it here just for the reference: http://pastebin.com/gteRLvkn

Offering mods / unofficial patches as extra is something that GOG will eventually catch up on I suppose. Since Steam does it already.

As long as I remember, UP was exclusive to The Patches-Scrolls website. We tried to respect that ;) Including the Basic version goes well with both that exclusivity and our usual policy of avoiding in-game changes in fixes.

That's at the very bottom, for legal reasons. I didn't even see that part until someone pointed to it directly. Info about mods / patches can be somewhere in the more prominent area of the gamecard.

Well, you can at least give a link there in the game card as you did in the announcement itself :) Or may be in the extras page on the game shelf.

Thanks for the answer, but as @shmerl already pointed out that is at the very bottom of the page under the legal disclaimer that almost nobody bothers to read, having that information more prominent on the game card would be very much appreciated.

Also as @shmerl pointed out too, at least a link to the full unofficial patch on the game card similar to what was done in this announcement would also be very helpful and appreciated by many.

In this particular case any changes to the gamecard would have to be approved by the publisher. I may inquire, but I cannot promise anything ;)
