thejimz: I have never actually bought the original DOOM. Only played the shareware. It's about time I tried the real deal.
You are not alone.
You might want to put "Master Levels for Doom II" in the game card title at the top, since otherwise it's not obvious those are included.
Can't wait for the flame war of which is best:Unreal Tournament or Quake 3 Arena to start all over again.
Man,now I got nostalgic reading those posts in the early days of the internet.

Tarm: Quake...
It have one of the best level designs, controls/movement/gameplay and enemy designs I know of. I'ts pure hardcore adrenaline rush FPS action. :D
Seconded. Q2 was really slow in comparison.

Thiev:
Now that you guys have the Beth half of many equations, will there be a chance of seeing some of the Quake add-ons like X-Men, Shrak, Malice (my personal favorite), Dark Hour, etc?
Can one play this with a keyboard and mouse, or just the game pad controller? TY

Q3A, no question. UT always had to much fanciness. Just like DN3D compared to Quake :-P

Since you will want to use source ports anyway, the method of control it entirely up to you :-)

These are the old games. Doom and Doom II were keyboard controlled, though there are various ports that allow mouse look. Quake 1 was KB+M. No idea if you can play them with game pads, though I wouldn't be surprised if you could.

I think I played Quake almost to the end before I learned that I could use a mouse to look around with by a console command. :)

Edit: Nope. My memory is coming back now. It was the first chapter I played without mouse look. I played Quake through without a aiming rectangle. Got pretty good guessing where the projectiles would go. :)

You can turn and move forward/backwards using the mouse in Doom. Although most sourceports allow freelook, the ability to look up/down can make the game a lot easier (especially the final level of Doom II). Most often it is recommended to disable it for the original levels.
Can we expect Doom 3 ? :)
