It probably wants to be friends.

Monstrum is now available DRM-free, 80% off until November 12th, 4pm UTC.

Escape three unique apex predators through procedurally generated levels and the threat of permadeath looming overhead. Try different tactics, procure items that could help you, distract it, hide, scream like a little girl, reload.

Get the Soundtrack for your collection, also 80% off until November 12th, 4pm UTC.
Released 5 days ago. One of those infamous Gog bugs.
Is this compatible with VR like the Steam version?
Point_Man "Is this compatible with VR like the Steam version?" - I am wondering this same question. I wanted to find out, so I purchased and installed it. So far I have found no way to enable on Rift. In the "Graphic Option" area, there is a box labeled Oculus, but when I click on it, it doesn't do anything. Searching through the installed folder, I cannot find any VR type application launchers. Vorpx doesn't have a profile, so it launches in 2D. I have sent an inquiry to the GOG team, but I doubt they will be able to help.... So at this point, just like the GOG version of Superhot, there is probably none. very disappointed... This may even be my first ever refund request...

AlienMind: Oh, procedurally and permadeath. Thanks for the warning.
Alot of people never knew there was a difference between the two.
Has anyone tried the game yet? How much randomization is used? Does the game allow any saving?

The monsters are randomized (you'll face 1 of 3, but never more than just 1 on any given run). The layout of the ship is procedurally generated, so beyond the starting room you'll never have the same layout twice in a row. The items needed to initiate escape through (again) 1 of 3 potential routes* are scattered randomly (as are other items that will help you in dealing with the monster you face).

The game does not allow you to save mid-game and then come back to finish. It's a "start a run and finish it" type of game, even if "finishing" means dying.

* - amending my previous response, I may be mis-remembering things slightly about whether the available routes to escape the ship are randomized (i.e. you only get 1 specific route per run) and in fact, all three are open to you on a given run but finding items necessary to get them started is where the randomization kicks you in the shin.

But you can fight back?
is it rigidly timed?

Vythonaut: Hmm, it sounds like Alien Isolation in a different context but with some different gameplay mechanics, is that right?
avatar
TheMonkofDestiny: It's Alien: Isolation where the monster is randomized from a pool of 3 and the option(s) of available escape are randomized. Oh, and there's little-to-no story to get engrossed by (if that's your preference).

Each of the three monsters has a differing gimmick/hook to facilitate a change in play style once you determine which one you're up against.
Sounds good and since there's no A:I on GOG yet, this should keep me f̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶e̶n̶e̶d̶ entertained for a while. Didn't watch the trailer or any other videos so as to not spoil anything, but the screenshots indicate a creepy & claustrophobic game. Who knows, maybe i'll try Outlast next!

Thanks for the info!

Also, are there many options in the Video Settings for Monstrum? I checked PCGamingWiki but it didn't have a screenshot of that.

d3adb01t: Nice release, but I noticed this on the front page. It doesn't bother me, but I thought it would probably be best to bring it up before someone else makes a big deal about it. Regardless, thank you for the release.
Uh, what IS the big deal?

AlienMind: Oh, procedurally and permadeath. Thanks for the warning.
Well, without those two the game would present absolutely no interest to play...

tinyE: But you can fight back?

From the couple games I played on my Steam version (GOG connect plz? :D), it's hide and seek. Think Outlast, but in a shorter time frame and replayability.

Outlast is exactly why I asked.
That's a great game, but I feel so helpless when I play it. Think I'll hold off on this for now.

Thanks :D

You can fight back, yes. If the question was more toward the line of "if I see a monster, can I just Leeroy Jenkins into it and win that way?" then - no. The monsters each have weaknesses and can be injured/etc. and the game provides you with things that either directly cause injury to them or (at least) act as distractions (think similar to the noise makers in Alien: Isolation).

As for rigid timing - you're the hunted, not the hunter. While there's no global clock counting down, it's logical to assume that if you're just dicking around with no regard to accomplishing any of the escape routes, you're gonna get got. But, play how you wanna play, by all means.

Here's screens of what the basic and advanced settings look like.

Yes, it is. Add -oculus to the shortcut. Only for Oculkus rift. VIVE and WMD useres should use Revive,
