gamesfreak64: Because it is a real game, i don't have any heavy games like 3d shooters, which are usually very demanding.
90% of my games are 'casual' games and maybe 50 real good old games like jagged alliance 2, commandos (classics) and similar, which are no demanding games, while 75% of all 'casual' games are, usually its a bad fps problem: seems they dont limit the fps, casual games like hidden object (HOG) do not need 60fps or more, and many Unity games seem to have set to unlimited fps.
Problem is they need a real 3ghz at recomm. setting( dont know why cause they look very simple)
Thats why i need power, ghz power, best solution would be to have a 5ghz , 8 core, and all core at 4 or 5 ghz, , not a 2.66 average and 3.2 ghz at turbo boost(only handy for archiving files (provided the version supports multi core) ( winrar). So in short : Giga power is what i need.
lazydog: I did a few quick tests for you on this game.
Your i5 on paper is around the same performance if not better than my core2quad yorkfield (Q9650)- yours is the more up to date processor.
I'm running a 1GB HD5870 video card, attached is the spec I am running the game at.
8GB DDR2 installed.
Using Fraps, I am getting between 30 and 60 fps depending on the action- this is OK and I see no noticeable stutter for me.
I am seeing the video card reach the high 60 degrees mark which is OK for my card, I am using a well ventilated case and the fans ramp up when things get warm.
I think you should be OK for this game, but can't comment on future proofing for other modern games, this is something that I do consider but will stick with the Q9650 for now- this set up ran the witcher3 at low to medium settings so I am happy for now.
Anyway, hopefully this is of some help.
Thank you for the reply, my old pc ( 2009) is almost 10 years old, time to 'retire' , wont ditch the pc ofcourse until its hardware is really +++ . Running win7 hope premium 64 buts 8 gb ( would have been 16 but the rams were no longer available back then so it sticks at only 8 GB instead of the max. 16 GB)
I had no time to safely check my GPU settings and temp cause the CPU usuage bar was almost filled thats 50 to 60% continuous CPU use which is bad, the CPU was bossting all the time ( 3.2 turbo) which is also bad cause its only a turbo boost , and are used now and then, not all the time( rememebr Knight Rider ? he turbo boosted now and then not all the time same goes for a pc , a boost is just a boost should be at it all the time)
Anyway i think i know what i probably will buy regarding pc parts:
Processor Serie Intel Core i7 Processor Model 9700K 3.6GHz
Gigabyte Z390 UD mobo
Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3000
GPU will be one of these:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB ( expensive: 359.00 Euro)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Windforce OC (less expensive: 299.00 - 319.00) depends on local prices.
also watched a video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVX4vstHvQo seems in the video in the link above, the diff. in price was around 30$ for a few frames , so i am still thinking which one to get ( for now)
there are (too) many videos to watch it is impossible to wacth every video , i suaaly watch the know testers , they have millions of visitors and many replies , they usually are tech guys.
One of the expenisve 'parts' for the pc would be the awfull dreaded, windoze 10 from M$ , around 140 euros (✖╭╮✖)
which is an outrage, if win7 would have been able to run on the new hardware i would have bought the parts right away, windoze 10 is the one and only reason i hesistate to buy parts for a new custom PC build....
maybe just maybe , if i had a free retail veriosn i might consider to start buying parts, but windoze 10 = just a nightmare... 140 to 150 euros for a bloated piece of spyware, also read rumours about rounded corners returning again ? just plain awfull...
