A very small selection of titles are set up for this:

Look in the games' subforums for help on getting them to run. If there is no thread, you can start a new one. You do know that by searching the internet you can often find instructions on how to, though they are not always very good.

"More titles
coming soon"

There's a running joke on the fora about GOG's meaning of "Soon".

Which game?

You might be able to contact the Dev/Pub.

In general, no. The whole idea with the older "classic" releases on GOG is that GOG (or someone else, like DotEmu or Nightdive Studios or or or) has worked on getting over both the technical and legal problems that there may be getting the game to work on modern machines.

They expect to get paid for that work (plus maintaining the whole infrastructure where you can download the games from them and discuss about them in this forum etc.), so they expect you to buy the new "modernized" version. At the same time, the current IP rights holder of the game also expect to get paid for letting GOG to sell their games.

So if you want the GOG version of the game, just buy it. It is only a couple of clicks, click click clickety click and it is there! Magic...
GOG doesn't do much as far as getting games to work. Your game will likely work fine, if it doesn't google it. Perhaps if you told us what game you have we could tell you if it works.
Depending on the game, you may be able to find an unofficial patch or source port that will make it run on modern systems.
