I just purchased Horizon Zero Dawn and I have a few questions:

I wanted to download the offline backup game installer from the website but it only shows 1 - 9 of 19 Files to download. Wondering where the 10 - 19 files are.

"Download Offline Backup Game Installer

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition (Part 1 of 19) 7458568 1 MB
Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition (Part 2 of 19) 7458568 4 GB
etc. to 9 of 19.

However, when I highlight the page and copy / paste it, it shows :

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition (Part 10 of 19) 7458568 4 GB
Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition (Part 11 of 19) 7458568 4 GB
etc. to 19 of 19.
But I can't scroll down to click anything. I didn't think I'd have to change resolutions but even than it doesn't show files 10 - 19 to download.

And even than, I am confused on what I am suppose to do with these 19 separate folders. (First time GOG user) Am I suppose to install something that comes in each file?

I eventually got Galaxy where the Offline Backup Installer seems to be all in one folder (With 4 separate patches to download) except when I go to download it, it goes into my active downloads than fails after seconds.

A bit confused on what is going on or how I can make sure that I can play the game offline, I'll be without internet for a month starting next week and wanted to have a new game to play for the time and having the backup installer would ensure (I think) that there would be no problem playing offline and without internet if I needed to install again.

However, after doing some reading if I am not mistaken I can download / install online and still be able to use that exe file to play the game when I don't have internet? If so would all my files and saves still be on there from when I played online? And if I am offline that also means I have to save everything in-game too? Seeing as there is no internet for cloud.

Sorry if these are nooob questions but I've only ever steamed for 10 years, trying to get the hang of a more manual install.

Much Thanks :)

Cheesy-Beaver:
Sometimes, when I go to the webpage with the games i own and choose a game I get no scroll bar on the right side. That is no problem when the installers consist of a few files. I guess it is a bug and I do not know if it is a problem with Firefox, with the webpage or some of the add-ons I use.

I can resolve that problem by just reloading the webpage. This will reset your selection in your library., but when you look up the game in the library again, you should have the scroll bar.
Hello and welcome.

Sounds like a problem with a content blocker add-on in your web browser, or the web browser itself. Try a different browser, wtih no customizations or non-default settings.
Once you click the "Download offline backup game installers" section to expand it, all the files should be visible (though you may have to scroll the whole page to see the full list).

They're files, not folders. Part 1 is the setup executable that you launch (usually by double-clicking) once you've downloaded the full set. Every other part is a data file that you don't interact with. Also, you don't need any of the patches if the installer is already the latest version.

If you're going to play offline, it would be ideal to use the offline installers. But yes, you can install a game through GOG Galaxy, then start GOG Galaxy with no Internet connection and still play. You wouldn't have access to online features, like multiplayer, achievements, cloud saves, and chat. Your progress is always saved locally; cloud saves just sync your saves with a remote server.

If the problems persist, please attach some screenshots to your reply (<500 KB per file, up to 2 MB).

See, that was your first mistake. Don't worry, I made it too. My advice - refund it, and buy Ghost of a Tale.
I have no idea what is the cause of the problem but in my case I was able to see all the files (I got 9 files as well) with zooming out the webpage (100% > 50%). Now, after the zoom in back to 100% I can see and scroll down though all 19 files + 6 patch files.
Alternatively, if you can't fix it on your end and if you don't want to wait for the programmer(s) of the site to fix the issue, you can use gogrepo, a Python script to download game files en masse.

It’s normal. I am afraid you will find the website to be very broken and janky and that nothing gets fixed. This issue has been around for quite a while. Sometimes when viewing a game page in your library you will only see what can be displayed and no scroll. Presumably they never thought they would have big games. TBH the GOG installers are also pretty naff now as well. Hey changed them from being simple archives to galaxy streams archive, but also give no decent options for extreme compression or downloading only components you need. I had this for spellforce 3 and ended up getting a highly compressed archive with only the bits I needed from a elsewhere simply as it saves 20gb storage space (which if you have a lot of games becomes key), even though I brought and own it here. Combine this with lack of changelogs, new versions breaking compatability/removing content and it’s no wonder that the site is struggling.
I can see all install and patch files on H:ZD, no zooming or other trickery needed. Firefox 95.0.2

Are you using any kind of ad or script blocker?

I had issue with missing scroll in Winter Sale page. I had to enable scripts from us-as.gr-cdn.com to fix it. Maybe it is similar issue.

What’s wrong with HZD then? I admit, I played it some time back (PS4) and got bored at quite early. However I am playing it now, quite near the end. If you skip the cringey dialog it’s quite a good open world. Quite a lot of variation, and combat with the robots is more technical, find weak spots, remove armour, apply effects etc, and again plenty of variation. I would say to one of the better open world games.

I just found it to be terribly bland and boring. The story and the characters are just barely serviceable, and the world feels empty, fake and devoid of any actual sense of place or ambiance. There's nothing to discover and definitely no one interesting to talk to. The side quests are just about the worst I've ever seen. There's really no effort, not to mention result, to hide the purely utilitarian "find the marker" nature of the gameplay. It makes something like Fallout 3 look like a masterpiece in comparison, with just how much there was to find, and how immersive the wasteland and the ruins felt. I really think of Horizon as just about everything worst of the "Ubisoft era" open world design.

And I found the combat rather boring and repetitive, but maybe I just suck. I barely bothered with applying effects, and trying to aim for weak spots kinda sucks on a game pad. I just stuck to "heavy attack, dodge, heavy attack, it falls down, critical strike" and it works for just about everything. And I have no idea why I have to bother to craft ammo but I hate it. The resources are so abundant it's impossible to run out anyway, I can just freeze time and craft in the middle of combat, so functionaly it's no different than having infinite ammo, but with the tedium of having to navigate the menu to craft more every 40+ shots.

Ah yes, you probably don’t like open world games in general, as they mostly have all those issues you mentioned. Some more than others of course. It’s simply the nature of open world games that there is repetitiveness, it’s the same as the real world. I agree the characters were bad, and story nothing to write home about, but you should look at combat a bit more, try with a mouse for aiming, it’s quite fun shooting all a robots guns off and then watch him pitifully try to ram into you to do any damage. A bit like a futuristic dragons dogma. It’s also a pretty game. Crafting is naff in all games. I do agree also that the Ubisoft “copy and paste” method of open world can be annoying, even a classic in the genre like black sails has “collectibles” on every piece of rock in the game, let alone syndicates portrayal of poverty stricken London with chests on every alley. But that is their thing, origins felt better for that and then odyssey went right back. Valhalla is not quite as repetitive.
Manual installs are quite simple - download all parts, put them in a folder, double-click the exe file and go through the installation process - it is straightforward. No need for Galaxy if you plan to game offline. Just make sure you have all the needed parts - on Windows they're mostly split into one exe and several bin files - you can see (first attachment) how The Witcher 3 GOTY has one exe file (1MB) and 9 bin files (8 of them 4GB, the last one 1.5GB). Since the base game is version 1.31, you can also install the 1.32 patch (if you so wish - in this case it adds support for Simplified Chinese).
In the second attachment - Dying Light, a game that keeps updating regularly: 1 exe files, 7 bin files and various patches. Since the current base version is 1.46.1, you don't need any of those patches unless you're coming from an older version. Those on capped data might choose to go for patches rather than full downloads.

I'm not one to advocate for Galaxy, but I guess you can find use in it (especially when it comes to downloading) since the GOG Downloader was discontinued. That is, if you don't want to handle everything manually. I prefer the latter.

I have never encountered the issue you just described (and I'm using Firefox with NoScript on various systems), so make sure there isn't anything on your end that might prevent the scrolling (maybe a broken extension/addon?). Also, you can always try a different browser, as Ice_Mage mentioned.

Edited to avoid misunderstandings.

I never ran into the exact same issue you describe (though I experienced my fair share of strange GOG behaviours).
My personal way to try and resolve it, would be to refresh my account (https://www.gog.com/user/refresh), maybe in unison with logging out, clearing my browser's cache, and logging in anew.
Helped me in the past.

Well, okay, as long as you're sorry. But I expect you to apologize to everyone in town, okay? And don't do it again.
