ugh another videogame movie.
Could be interesting, although there haven't been many good movies based on games.
Loved the trailer, hated the music.

That said, the first thing that came to my mind was "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" :)
Looks rather bad, although the terrible music choice isn't helping. Still, if they manage to make something even half-way watchable out of the steaming pile of shit that is Assassin's Creed storyline it will be an impressive achievement.
So far so good.
Except the music. I guess the guy who made the trailer was deaf or something :P
I don't really like watching movies, and I don't even remember when went to the cinema last time, but I'll definetly try watching this one on the big screen :)
Watched to see if the music is as bad as everyone says, it is.

Fans have already changed it. There's a version with the soundtrack from the games:

Better than the original, but I didn't think it synchronized (no pun intended) with the action all that well.

More in line with current trends in trailers there's a version with Lorde's cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"

If you don't like pop songs then it might not be for you, but I thought it fit with the visuals, plus the song fits thematically with the games, certainly much more than Kanye's "I Am a God".

On the subject of the film itself, I was most surprised that they didn't scrap the awful present day storyline completely, but the period stuff looked cool and by the end I even warmed up to the present day part a bit. It might end up alright.

The 2nd one was perfect! :O
I seriously don't understand who the hell OK-d the music for the original trailer >_>

To be honest I always liked the present day stuff in AC. But I'm weird :P

As one of the few people who actually likes the present day framing device/metaplot in the AC series, I have to say that the modern bits of that trailer looked crap. The big arm Animus is ridiculous, everything's far too dark, the Abstergo woman seemed way too openly evil, and what the hell do they think is going to happen if they train someone they kidnapped to use his latent Assassin skills and arm him?

The Spanish Inquisition bits look great, so I'm cautiously optimistic that this might be one of the better game-to-film transitions. Especially based on the fixed trailer that replaced Kanye West with music.
But did the games even have any Spanish setting?
I find it a bit cowardly that they dodged completely the actual story of the first (or any of the subsequent, really) game in favour of that.

Keep in mind, the movie is not supposed to be an adaptation, but a separate story in canon with the games.
Aahhhh....I suppose that is as good an excuse as any. Gives them more space though, I suppose.

The first two or three games weren't so bad in terms of story...

... but there's just so many of them now.
Meh.
