So I've know that GoG has patched up Fallout 3 to not require GFWL and a few multi-core issues.

I heard that they also patched in widescreen support and large address awareness, but it varies from forum to forum. Is there somewhere I can go to find a full list of improvements they made to the game? Like a changelog?

My old physical GOTY edition does not need GFWL either and the game always had wide-screen support afaik.

Large Address Aware has been patched in by GOG. One of the GOG blues says so in This Thread. You can also use that thread to figure out some of the things they didn't add, since they're giving suggestions on mods to use. But I'm not sure if there's a complete list anywhere of what they did add.

My copy had it but then, it was modded to remove it within days anyways so it's no big deal and never has been.

You could bypass it right from the get-go, if I recall correctly. At least, I never had to use GFWL when I played it.

nope, When you install the game from the disc it needed the disc and when you boot the game up gfwl will pop up and you would need to sign in or something, It's been a while forgot the full thing about it. But yeah they had things you can download that would disable it. Megagames site has those cracks to play games without the disc and gfwl and other blockades, Fun times lol.
I own the UK retail DVD version and I can confirm that Fallout 3 GOTY (still) has GFWL. Without GFWL the user may start playing, but saving is not available.

There are ways to remove GFWL, but as far as I know, there isn't any official patch for the DVD version, on the other hand for the Steam version GFWL has been removed (I don't use Steam though).

I don't know of any GOG exclusive improvement to the game.

Well, like I said, I don't have a GFWL account and I installed and played the game. Although I may have been thinking about the original F3 release (I ended up getting the Collector's Edition when the game was first released). I believe you could bypass GFWL by using the game .exe to launch the game instead of the launcher on that one.

Yeah, I heavily modded my GOTY edition when I installed that one, so may have used a mod to bypass GFWL on that.

Well, my German and English retail GOTYs both run and save just fine without any GFWL or Internet connection installed at all. Maybe there are different versions like with the Morrowind GOTY.

Do you use FOSE? Because that disables GFWL.

Yes, that would explain it.
I couldn't imagine playing that game without the Fallout Mod Manager and FOSE.
I knew the smart move would be to wait for it to come here. Resisted so many Steam sales over the last couple years. Patience pays off!
