I was just reading about "It Lurks Below", an RPG by a Diablo creator. The article mentions that it looks like a cross between Terraria, Minecraft, and Starbound. I liked both Terraria and Starbound, Mindcraft did not grab me though.

Great, another sidescrolling "roguelite" with pixel art, just what the world needs.

Terraria was basically the concept of Minecraft refined and turned into an actual game. Although I did kind of miss the 3d aspect of Minecraft. Scaling mountains and looking out over the landscape was pretty cool, even if it was made of blocks.

As for It Lurks Below, this is the first I've heard of it but I'm quite interested. I liked both Terraria and Diablo 1/2, so this sounds like my kinda thing.

When I saw "by the maker of Diablo" the last thing I expected or wanted it to be followed by was "Minecraft" :P

By the maker of Diablo (i.e. 1 or 2), or the maker of the always online auction site with the title Diablo? This is a key point, although minecraft was enough to put me off.

So, it's claimed to be an RPG, but none of the games cited are RPGs. So, is it really an RPG, or is it another case of the term "RPG" being mis-applied?

David Brevik. As in, the man who came up with the original design document for and created Diablo.

Those visuals are really, really ugly.

Yup! I'll stick with Terraria.
