Not entirely true.

In the past, before the half baked solution, a blue (MOD) would occasionally post, saying they could do nothing about the downvoting.

Then eventually GOG came up with their half-baked solution, probably inspired by TheDcoder's script, which came out not long before, and which did a somewhat similar thing ... purely hiding your REP count from you personally.

So if enough folk complain, enough threads and posts are created, maybe the half-bake will become a full solution.

P.S. You can contact a blue if you want, but they will just tell you nothing can be done, and that you aren't impacted by downvoting. Clearly that isn't true, as fva_ and others have declared about not being able to post links.
