nothing new - it always happen with market. Selling games always was profitable and, with recent changes of humble, launch of itch and bethesda's own store announcement, on top of steam-related disasters, everybody invests into their little "gabeshop killers" (cant wait for walmart's digital goods store, lol). Similar to how everybody is making battle royales after success of fortnite. And, since discord tried to fit gamers-related niche - it was obvious that they will try to jump on same train.
At the end of day (while one of them may suddenly blast and take over steam's niche. And steam will die or turn into sort of newgrounds/googleplay, which slowly happens right now), most of them will exhaust and, while remain alive, sell only non-exclusive items for people who got used.
They tries to take part of this cake, but with each bite fragmentation will slowly kill them. Nothing new, really
