jepsen1977: Did gamers just forget about buggy and broken games from the past like Fallout 2, Wing Commander Privateer 2, Fallout New Vegas and Master of Orion 3? These games were not just broken - they were borderline unplayable when they came out. And yet, Fallout 2 and NV are now considered masterpieces. It's the nature of ambition that a company will try to do too much with a new game and it doesn't end well most of the time.

But CDPR will probably learn from this and fix the game over time. It's unfortunate but I will rather see an ambitious game being buggy and then fixed over time than a "safe" and unambitious game that's technically fine.
Indeed. Fallout 2 and New Vegas are among my favourite games to this day.

kai2: I spent the day watching video reviews and gameplay across all platforms, and while the base last-gen consoles were the worst, it seems that all have serious issues ATM. Plus, many systems that either are poorly implemented or non-existent.
Youtube is highlighting the worst stuff, just like a forum would. It does not represent the average experience. In 50 hours of game time I have had almost zero issues, outside of a few floating items or weird animations, which Bethesda games are also full of. If anything I find this game remarkably polished for what's doing.

Cohh Carnage.

Cohh is a big CDPR fan and tends to be fair on games (even easy).

I'm old enough to discern fair from rage-master YouTubers pretty well

No random Youtube guy you watch is going to change my experience with the game, is he?

This all misses the point though, which is that the thread is about CDPR being a laughing stock and I'm saying that's because of how bad the game was ported to the base consoles, not because of the game as a whole. Yes it is buggy sometimes for some people, but every Bethesda game had the same reaction and reputation and they sell like crazy and have a rabid fanbase. Yes the game might be disappointing for some gameplay wise, especially since people hyped this as the second coming of Jesus, but that doesn't make anyone a laughing stock.

The laughing stock part is limited to PS4 and Xbox One performance, that's my only point.
Is it really or are the media outlets just highlighting the bad stuff? I've seen worse. CDPR still needs to get their shit together.

I remember that game. Last time I've heard they already spent millions on it and still nothing. Starting to look like a scam.
There's plenty of 'laughing stocks of gaming' in recent history.

Though Assassin's Creed Unity, Fallout 76, No Man's Sky being games being big games that immediately come to mind.

I didn't expect CP77 to come out this year, and it seems my impressions was right, it should have come out Febuary/March. Though the worst of it is on PS4/XBone base systems that seem to already be quite old and not the target system they are trying to go for.

I've seen laughable bugs, and terrible bugs, but i'd say is better than the 3 games i listed earlier (on launch anyways, NMS has improved considerably 3 years later)

I don't see this seriously hurting CDPR long term, not really. Though i would prefer if all games came out ready and polished, as bug free as you can get.
i think cyberpunk might recover technically, but the game itself is still kinda dull... well, all kinds of cyberpunk are, so yeah
Well, if you thought that only glitches are the problem in Cyberpunk 2077, here is the physics comparison between Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto V, and Grand Theft Auto IV.

I think it's more of a case of normal people enjoying the game while a minority of people scream into the void and circlejerk each other to the point of believing their bubble is now objective reality. I mean most recently we have people running around scaring people with 8mb save corrupt and yet I have not seen anyone actually experience said bug, even after rigorous testing due to needing to collect like 100s of thousands of items and never getting rid of any of them actually corrupt the save. It's nonsense negativity that plagues modern gaming. Don't think any normal folks give a shit though.

This seems to concern the late game... Most people haven't finished the game yet, let alone tried everything to min-max the game. If you need 100 hours to get to that, most players are not at that point, and most casuals will never be.
I'm enjoying the game but :
- The patch 1.05 changed lots of things
- There is clearly missing content
- IA needs to be actually made, especially the wanted system which appears to be nowhere near what was promised and also is something that looks like 3 minutes of coding made by some intern.
