jane176: Internet is full of "GOG.com Promo Codes" and similar codes. As an example, you can see the following link (please be careful, I suspect this to be a scam):

Do these codes work or is it just a scam? If they work, how do I use them?
The keys floating around are 100% scams. We either discount games for everyone, or sometimes we might have a discount that you can benefit from if you already own a certain title - in that case, it would be tied to your account. Our promos are never tied to a code, and we don't do the "use this code at checkout to get 20% off" types of deals. Also, you can usually tell by the source as well. Our game codes would be distributed by us, the publishers and partners we work with, or possibly via our Twitch - it would never be a "third party" website. Does this clarify it a bit?

JMich: Hm, the code I still have on my Guacamelee! Gold edition seems to disagree with that. It is a single use code though, and will expire sometime in September.
The Strike Suit Zero discount code for the Director's Cut though seems to not be expiring, yet I still think it's a single use code.
Yes, you're right, although those would be codes given out by us, right? Not a code off a third party website.

Technically speaking, those codes are not actually used at checkout - as in, you do not input them in some text field on the checkout page, as the "greenpromocode" site would suggest. :)

JMich: True, I do not recall getting any discount codes from other sites, though there were a few third party giving bonus codes for games. Not selling gift codes, but distributing bonus ones, like for Kickstarter rewards.
But yeah, rule of thumb is that any codes floating around are bogus ones.
HA! But you get the gist, yea? The site also mentions codes for free shipping - another good hint that it's most definitely a scam :)

later edit - just got the unannounced promo thread and it seems its an actual GOG thing.
If the game you're talking about is Neverwinter Nights 2, then that was definitely genuine. Although due to an error on our side, even a few people who already own the game received the mailing, despite it being initially intended for people who only own Neverwinter Nights 1. Admittedly that made it look a little dodgy :(

moonshineshadow: So it should have been for everyone who only has the first one? If yes, this really was totally messed up and the email just got distributed randomly... Never got one of these promo codes and I only have the first NWN.
No, not quite. It had a bit more background than just that, and the pool of people who were intended to receive it was a little more specific - but one of the points was owning NWN1 but not NWN2. The problem occurred when obviously a few people who own NWN2 as well got the code too - that's what made it confusing. We're really sorry about the mishap here!

Lillesort131: It's good to have this confirmed as the mail seemed quite suspect - is there a special reason as to why it was sent from "newsletter=gog.com@cmail20.com" instead of the usual "newsletter@gog.com"?
I'm not quite sure myself but will investigate and let you guys know.
