Hello,
Yeah, I'm one of theses weird people that use only Linux on their personnal computer ;) So I was wondering if the GoG versions of Fallout would happend to run correctly with Wine.
Actually the question can be extended on all GoG games. If anyone has the answer..
Thanks already
:)

If the GoG version hasn't changed lots of things in the game, then yes, Fallout 1 and 2 are working good with Ubuntu/ Linux when you use wine. /Edit: Only the installer could maybe make problems. I download the game right now and will test it.
I can play my original Fallout 2 with wine, Fallout 1 also shouldn't be a problem.
/Edit: Tested it, works fine from A to Z. :)

GOG's Fallout 1 on wine under Linux work perfectly.
My environment: ArchLinux x86_64, wine 1.1.4 (bin32-wine-suse from aur)

GoG's Fallout 2 works perfectly with wine 1.1.3.
I'm not sure what GoG actually change, other than the installer... It's the standard US version in every other sence.
Fallout 1 in a Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) with wine 1.0 on a Medion Akoya mini E1210 working like a charm.
Fallout 1 works fine with Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) and wine 1.0.
However, did any of you succeed to use NMA's resolution patch ? On my box, it crashes wine....
I tried using the high resolution program for Fallout, but nothing happened.
The resolution pack causes wine to crash for me also.

You will have to download msvcp60.dll and place it in the /home/yourusername/.wine/windows/system to be able to run the f1_res_patcher.exe without it crashing and to patch it properly.

I've done that and f1_res_patcher.exe works flawlessly.
For me, it the patched falloutw.exe that crash. Non-patched falloutw.exe is ok.
Nevermind, fullscreen with fixed aspect ratio is fine :)
Fallout 1 on Ubuntu 8.04 with wine 1.1.4 - installs and plays perfectly. I have yet to discern any issues after 4 hours of gameplay. I'll let you know if I find anything.
do Fallout Tactics also work with Wine ?

Yeah same result for me. Now I just have to decide whether to poke and try to fix it or just play the game :)
Has anyone got Fallout running with wine on a Mac. I'm running OS 10.6 with wine 1.2 and an old install CD and can't get it going. I've spent a literal day googling around and trying things.

Does the GOG version work any better???

Yes, it works fine. I used WineSkin to run the GoG installer and installed vcrun6 via Winetricks. I had to apply the high-res patch in a VMWare XP install, but other than that everything has worked flawlessly.
