Can't alt+tab with fallout. It shows the app in my task manager but the app is not loading into win8's list of alt+tab switching programs. What gives?

tl;dr: When I alt+tab, the program loses focus permanently.

Which Fallout game is this for?

For Fallout 3 I ran a utility program that essentially forced a full-screen game to be windowless. I believe it was called Windowed Borderless Gaming. There is a mod for something similar for it on the Nexus website

For Fallout 1 and 2, I'm not sure as I haven't tabbed out of it while running fullscreen.

I just checked it out on my computer. For mine I needed to click on the arrow for falloutwHR.exe (32 bit). After that, if you right click on the Fallout @800x600x1 (might show different on yours), the menu that pops up will show Switch To, click on that one. It took a few seconds for it to come back on mine.

There is probably a setting you can change in the Hi-Res Config section on the GOG screen that will make it work better.
