This is big enough news I thought it deserved its own thread:

To quote author killap:

Without further ado, after 3 long years and countless delays here is another big update to the Restoration Project! Previous 2.x saves (beta included) can be used, BUT I highly suggest against it. They'll load, but there have been enough map/script changes here and there that something will surely break. So start anew!
Awesome news for sure. I played Fallout 1 & 2 for the first time a few months ago and I've been waiting for this release before trying to play 2 again with the restoration pack. Great to see it's finally out!
Fallout 2 with the RP is much better than vanilla, IMO. The fixes and restored content are innumerable. And killap has done a great job staying within the bounds of fixes and restored original content without adding mod-type stuff. It's essentially what Fallout 2 would have been if the developers had had as much time and money as they needed to do everything they wanted.
@UniversalWolf: Thanks for a heads up!
Be sure not to install Killap's unofficial patch after you installed his Restoration Project 2.2, because a) all his patches are included anyway and b) the game runs in vanilla mode afterwards and all Restoration Project content will be missing.

I found out the hard way in Klamath (missing quest) and had to start all over again, because you can't use old saves with RP 2.2.

What about installing the un-official patch before the new Restoration Project?

Don't. The restoration project contains the unofficial patch, and trying to install both at the same time can cause problems whatever order you do the install in.

Awesome, thank you! I had just installed the unofficial patch when I found the thread for 2.2. I'll redo it all right away.
