Normally, I play the good guy, collecting as much good karma as possible, doing all the quests that give good karma. Now I've beaten the game with good karma with a variety of character builds, now I want an new experience.

Fallout 1 doesn't have all that many evil quests though. In past evil playthroughs that I tried, I did the following:

-Join the Khans
-Kill Killian
-Join the Skulz
-Kill Hightower and Jain for Decker
-Blackmail Iguana Bob
-Taking the waterchip without fixing the pump
-Kill the Blades for Zimmerman

There's a playthrough faq on Gamefaqs where it tells you that you get most of your bad karma from killing townsfolk. However, whenever I played evil in the past, I postponed collecting a lot of bad karma until I gained access to the Brotherhood and all merchants were willing to trade with me. Various people won't even talk to you if you have evil karma or get a negative reaction when you first speak to them. I've had to kill the Brotherhood because Vree would tell me that I was "disrupting her meditation" regardless of what time it was. Getting Power Armor as a reward for rescuing the initiate was only possible with a reputation of 16 or more.

Plus I like to kill all those super mutants in the Military Base and Cathedral so I can see how powerful my character is after I've hit level 21. Destroying the Cathedral and Military Base gives good karma, as does returning the water chip to Vault 13, and joining the Brotherhood.

Fallout 2 had more evil quests, but many of them were very difficult to do early on in the game. For example, helping Modoc attack the Ghost Farm, the residents kept getting slaughtered and I couldn't deal enough damage myself. I tend to postpone doing these evil quests, such as joining the Slavers, until I've gotten the GECK, done Rebecca's jobs, and gained access to the Sierra Army Depot.

In a lot of random encounters, you'll come across raiders who attack you, forcing you to defend yourself, and you get karma for killing them. You also get karma for killing the mutants in the Military Base, the raiders in the Riader Base and Vault 15, and Enclave Soldiers in Navarro and the Oil Rig. In fact, most of my evil karma came from killing the Shi in San Francisco, though some of them do give good karma when killed. Often, hardly reach the Demon Spawn rank when I finish the game.

Can someone give me some tips on how to play as an evil character? What am I doing right or wrong? Should I slaughter entire towns except for the evil characters in a settlement, such as Gizmo, the Regulators, and the Shi?
