bobholland: Bought colonization, downloaded it. clicked on the desktop icon - just got the loading music but black screen. By pressing ctrl/alt/del screen gives me partial Colonization screen but unusable because mouse will not interface with game. Running Windows 7 . Uninstalled and re-installed but no different.
In Colonization folder in Start Menu you'll find graphic options setup. Try switching 'surface' to different mode.
