The manual seems to be scanned in 1983. Does anyone have a better scan? I actually have the original game, but I'm missing the manual, so I can't do it myself.

The scan is from 2005 or older. As in most cases when the rights holder cannot provide GOG with the original documentation, the digital docs come directly from Replacement Docs (and some times even from abandonware sites).

One of the owners of the original release here could try providing a new scan directly to GOG... pleeeeease :P

Is this an issue of GoG being too lazy to locate and scan a decent copy of the manual vs. it being illegal for them to do so?

It's more legal to upload your own scan instead of using someone else's from an abandonware stie that's in the gray area by definition. So laziness, more like.

Legally, abandonware doesn't exist. It's just a term people use to designate games which have no publicly known owner, or the owner no longer cares, or some licensing issue is preventing legal endorsement.

It has nothing to do with legality. How would it be different in that sense to make available a copy of someone else's scan to it being one that GOG made? (and how would anyone know the difference? lol)

If the party with most to win from the sales (distribution/property rights holder) is not able or willing to provide a file themselves, or even a physical copy to scan, I would hardly find reason to call GOG's solution lazy.

You are mixing abandonware with the Berne Convention.

I have the manual in Spanish (that it is not included in this version of the game). I would very glad if any administrator can add it to the game. I have scanned it at 300 ppi. If it is going to be used, I can scan it even at a better resolution. I cannot attach it here (not even as images, how can I do it?). To whom should I send it?

You seem to be way too easily triggered by a statement that was not even meant to be sarcastic, but factual. You need to get over yourself, honestly.

Edit: I misread your post, on the internet, so many people end up being insulting (see below), I just kind of jump to that conclusion. I don't feel I am too easily triggered though, I made a simple mistake and given a quick browse through this forum (and many others) will support that point (as well as the very next message). Nor do I feel you are a hypocrite since you didn't intend to insult. With that said, I don't listen to a stranger's verbal claim of "intentions" on the internet, so once I saw you had good ones, I revised my judgment on it, and admitted my mistake.

I would worry more about how you were affected, except you didn't seem to care much about how I felt bc you felt your own intentions were not bad, therefore I don't feel bad at all towards my own misinterpretation, since my intentions were not bad.

To put it another way:

Your own standard has demonstrated here that since your intentions were good, then you didn't feel bad, and I feel the same way about my actions due to my misinterpretation.

In fact, I was probably one of the hardest people to trigger and now I force myself to consciously defend myself when I feel attacked because one simply can not avoid that in life.
