Vote against german version of GOG with censorship!
In contrary to what some comments may make you believe, most (if not all) games denied by GOG to German users are _not_ illegal to buy by them. GOG is just very confused about how the German rules work and thus does everything wrong.
Then vote for these.

I'd normally agree but that's German law. Not censorship by GOG actually
GOG can't sell you a game that is illegal in your country, BUT you can lie about your country. Just use a VPN. (I would also reccomend you to vote in your country to change the law, but I know that Germany isn't a democracy (like pretty much every country in the EU) so voting won't work since the governement don't care about what you think)
Well that BS argument again, that Vainamoinen uttered is just that.
There are very few things actually censored in Germany and _those_ can be on individual basis be imported! Like RTCW with swastikas. The distribution is prohibited, but not the possesion (in individual amounts), then make it such that the customer goes onto a server that's _not_ located in Germany. If you're concerned about age and such, well Germany has a solution for that as well eID. The ID card of every german is capable - if they haven't let it been disabled, but that's why mine is in 'Cryptalloy' (GetDigital) - of eID. Plus the nation has a open API where a authentification can be anonymously (just salted session ids) done. Yes, it requires the customer to have a card reader, so WTF?

What you really need is a better Germany. Revolt already.
Sorry, Max. It's either lock those games or not sell to Germany at all. :|
The regional locking is one of the main reasons why I hate Steam! Sad that GOG goes the same way and very unfair for adult German players like me. I hope GOG changes it.
Gylfe has a point. If GOG wishes to do business in a country then the business in question must obey ALL laws regarding what you may and may not do.
This has my vote, but GOG.com will not be able to do anything about the laws, other than follow them, that is.
There are too many comments to read through to see if this has already been mentioned, but I'm sure this is due to the laws of the countries. For example, it's unlawful for them to put a swastika in any form in a game in Germany. So RTCW didn't use them, but many other games do and are either not sold in the country, or they had to make a version specific for them that doesn't include it. I don't claim to be an expert on any other nation's law, but I would strongly suspect this is the main contributing factor.
They can keep the German language option. Germany isn't the only country where they speak German!
GOG complying with laws is a good thing...
If you don't want Germany to be censoring games like Wolfenstein cause of nazi symbol maybe you should ask your country to grow up?
I have already upvoted this, but I recently wanted to get the classics Quake 2 and Quake 3. According to the community wishlist, they are available...just not for German users. I am using an online shop to digitally import games. Nothing wrong. Just add age verification.
if i could, i'd create a billion accounts just to vote for this!!! but i can't so i shan't......
I don't know, whether that would help, but I don't need a GoG-server located in Germany just to buy games. I would be totally fine with GoG having its servers in Poland offering language and currency options. Can you include an option in the Galaxy client to log onto the Polish server for shopping please? ;)
I'll vote for this but I'd like to add australia too. We get censored(and sometimes are not allowed to buy them at all) games too. No more region restrictions or regional censorship!!
Yes, 1000th vote :)
Just bring back the old GOG with no restrictions!
I thought Return to Castle Wolfenstein has been deleted from GOG whyever, same with Duke Nukem 3D, until I found out that they are not deleted but kept away from me and all other German users just because we are in Germany! Lol, try doing this in Germany with someone and the law will bust your ass because of "discrimination". Anyway, I am supporting this request, no matter what others say. I am adult and I do decide myself what I play and what not. If some crazy ass politician wants to stop me just because of some stupid swastikas or too much blood and gore or whatever then I don't give a damn. I got the money and I want to buy the games I want to play period.
people who are voting for this is sure trying to get gog in trouble even netflix had to start going against people with VPN so they don't get into trouble or removed shows
@Naszrador I'm no lawyer, but afaik and I did some research on this, the facts you mentioned are not a 100% correct, but I dont want to discuss with you about that. The only thing I want to mention is, GOG should have a closer look at the German law instead of just excluding every title as soon as it gets indexed. I see also no problem in verification of the age - a good thing btw - and there should be also no problem in hiding games as soon as someone who is old enough is explicit searching for a specific title.
Germany has 2 Indey list. The games that are allowed to be bought and owned as long as you are 18+ but are forbidden to be advertised in any kind at all. So GOG would have to hide them for as long as you do not specifically search for the game.
The other Index list are games which are forbidden to be owned at all. They can be punished with fines or jail. This includes stuff with Nazis like uncensored Wolfenstein or South park. GOG and german buyers would do something Illegal if allowed to buy them.
I have the feeling, some of you do not understand that it is still legal for Germans to buy indexed games if you are at least 18 years old. The only difference is, it is not allowed to make advertisment for indexed things. Germany introduced ePerso - electronical ID card - so why not make use of this to make sure GOG is only selling indexed games to adults? But instead they just do not offer anything.
Dear Germans, maybe you should vote on Bundestag elections instead.
Even EA has to do this in other countries but they give out a different game instead. if you want the other version then fight your own government other than that you will be putting gog and companies at risk of a lawsuit or they will not sell games to that country.
We don't need a german website. Simple as that. Would be a shame, if I couldn't even buy at GOG anymore. Because simple as it is - I' not buying censored games.
Why shouldn't globalisation work for consumers, too instead of companies or governments? If I have the opportunity to "import" the game - digital copy or physical copy doesn't matter in my opinion - I'm more than happy to and will take it.
Though I voted for this: we have to keep in mind that law is law. Basis for all this cutting disaster -Soldier of Fortune 2 anyone? :)- is the most like institute in the world "USK". We cannot ask for something that puts our friends of GOG-Team or CD Project in danger. I hope at least you all agree to the last part of the statement.
Nevertheless I would buy the uncensored version for sure rather than the censored one....gaming since more than 27 years and still got pested alike I am a kid :(
cheers crawX
I voted for it, because i don't want to be blocked from games.
However im against removing the german site itself. If you remove it you may lose consumer because a lot of germans do care if the site is in german or english.
So give us the possibility to get every game, without removing the german site.
Actually, I see quite no reason for localised website. You don't need high level of English to use it. More language versions of the games are awesome but that is something different. More versions of the website, that is a change bound to result in various content of the site for each country. It may not be a huge difference today, but if it continues like that, it's gonna be a trouble in a few years.
One of the reasons why I've loved gog for some time were the fair policies. No boundaries on the internet, no different in approach towards customers from various places. Don't change that, don't return to the stupid mainstream mentality.
Wait... can german users still buy games on the not-german version of the site? If so, I see no issue here.
Surely gog can just claim they do not need to censor, as they are not based in Germany. Also, they can just claim that the German site is aimed at Austrians not Germans.
Please cancel German GoG-Site, anybody does need it, anybody does want it.
No German Site - no censorship for Germany. It is that easy, I would guess.
Surely removing games for one section of the community is against all of the principles of GOG? First regional pricing and now removing access to certain games from our German members. Not good GOG, you're heading down a slippery slope!
I'm not from Germany, but i have every kind of censorship.
If someone doesn't like it, that doesn't mean every one doesn't like it.
There should be choice for each individual, if you want to see the particular thing or not.
ok, i've asked some friends i know from chatrooms.
to give some facts: germany 995 drm-free games, japan 997, usa 997, australia 993.
i think that dont means automaticly gog is using censorship, it could mean too that they have no rights to sell the games in some counries...?
so, can anyone tell us which games were removed?
Or do we all need to do the research by our own, because you do not want to share what you've found out?
Nevermind I did some research and found an answer. This is extremly disapointing and I guess it´s time to abandon GOG for me. Not the first digital shop I left for that reason.
Which games have been removed? I haven´t noticed.
I'm italian, but i've always been against censorship and i discussed the issue with a few german online pals that were upset about the subject.
Also, i never liked how GOG handled the regional thing, compromising about it to get newer games (it's nice that they repay the difference in store credits, but that's still compromising). I didn't buy any regional priced game nor i ever will, for ethical reasons.
You have my vote.
No censorship and no DRM. Stop harassing gamers with region lock!
Im no german, but i voted, regional lock suck, it can happen also to me.
I would have bought a couple of games from the recent LucasArts additions.
Censorship is significantly worse than DRM. You censor... I do not buy a single game anymore. Guess where I get my games instead !
what games removed?
I'm total against region lock.
censorship for Germany...it's the first step in becoming useless crap like Steam... voted of course
+1000000000000!
Please remove the localization. No one wants it and it only leads to censorship, region locking or outright removal of games. It is incredibly annoying to have to set up a VPN every time I am in germany, just to get proper access to GOG. And for the love of god please stop sending me the newsletter in german! As long as there is no option to revert the language change, I'll sadly have to redirect all GOG news into the spam folder.
Agree with McSpain. Region lock is a major turn off.
Voted. One World was a claim that made me fall in love with gog.
Filtering the games via region lock is a complete no-go.
The color blue is DRM (for me) so there was DRM on this site the whole time! D:
Voted!
Region lock is DRM (for me).
