Purchase EA and release their games DRM free.
I have a hunch we might see HL3 before anyone buys EA...
One can only hope. Though I can see Microsoft, Amazon or Sony doing that before CDPR has even a chance get big enough.
This one made my day brighter!!!
+1, that is something really interesting!
Better yet, buy Valve and make Half Life 3
At this point I'm not sure if this is satire or OP is really this dumb and I'm too afraid ask.
Don't forget to buy Sony and Microsoft too.
lmao imagine
There should be a way to compare amount of upvotes with downvotes statistical metrics.
there needs to be a downvote feature
Interesting. A more realistic goal might be to purchase Denuvo, publish all their source code, and then shut them down? ;-)
EA? most of there games suck.... if you mean old original EA games then sure, im all for that.. just not the junk they scrape out now-days.
gog plz
I would love to see this happening. In fact, this is one of the reasons I intent to pre-order Cyberpunk 2077. There is a thing called trust and normally you only loose it one time. Would you buy a pre-order's game from EA?
I like it! ^
yeah purches EA and kick out there all booses and " MADE PLAYING GREAT AGAIN "
please cdpr
Is that a board for bad jokes?
But concerning EA´s old games (as far as they are not already on Origin) the second part can be seen seriously.
This might actually become possible as loot boxes are starting to become illegal, which might tank EA's stock. CD Projekt, a hostile takeover of EA might be possible.
why the fuck do you need ea's shitty games, samurai
yup. just need to get Tencent on the CDPR board and we'll have enough cash to do so.
If we buy all our games on GoG, CDPR Group will have enough $$$ to buy EA; I support this!!!!!
It's so stupid it might just work..
For a moment I thought I saw this thread tagged with "in progress"
Ah well :)
A nice thought, but a rather unrealistic goal.
Numbers are constantly changing and hard to pin down, but consider that CD Projekt has a current net worth of about $2.5B and Electronic Arts has a current net worth of $29.1B.
Revenue aside, those numbers speak volumes. But if you really wanted to know; CD Projekt's sales revenue for 2018 was $17.75M while EA's was $5.15B. That's a 28914% higher annual revenue.
There is simply no logical way that GOG will ever buy EA. Sorry guys.
gog makes less then EA.. heck gog is trying to stay out of the red right now..
Now THAT would be the ultimate kick in the Teeth for EA if ever. LOL
EA being discontinued I mean.
If gog.com can do it one day, Oh sure go for it. Don't waste all your money though. I rather nobody ever give ea any money, even for the company itself. It should just go away, like a product being discontinued.
Then you can fix Sims 3 and throw Sims 4 down the sewie-hole. God knows EA was never going to fix Sims 3, and the "community support" has dried up and blown away. I mean seriously, that one guy supported Sims 3 for free for like TEN YEARS with his fixit software to make Sims 3 actually playable. They got so nervous about accidentally offending "the community modders" when Sims 4 was being planned that they were actually and specifically stating in promos that modders would be WELCOME! OF COURSE they are. Its modders that keep those games playable AT ALL, without mods they are trash.
And then shut them down. God that would be satisfying. And give the licenses to games like Skate, Mass Effect, Dead Space, etc. to someone that deserves them. Of course this is all very unrealistic, but it's still fun to think about
Ughh Why would you want any games from EA?
lol I will put forward capital matching
if EA dies it wont be the worst thing to happen, the less companies who want to work with them the better, they did this to themselfs you reap what you sow and EA's field is pretty much a dry arrid dirt,
EAs market capitalisation is over $25 billion. If they had that much money I'd rather they just do what they do better then waste it on a company with inflated worth bound to yearly franchises to keep feeding their shareholder.
Maybe if GOG become big enough they'll be able to buy EA...
I would love to play re-released Harry Potter 1,2&3 available on gog.com!
They can start by purchasing IPs at first perhaps? *wishful thinking*
seen this title @ sprinkled my coffee incidentally
It'd be goddam' awesome!
EA definitely needs the help and theres no better teacher than GOG. ;-)
It would be a good idea. Besides, Linux ports and support may be added to all EA games.
Buy Valve, while you're at it.
we need this to happen. Unlikely as it is I support GoG fully int his endeavor.
haha this! but yeah I voted!
Please purchase Ubi first
This one actually put a smile on my face, as unrealistic as it is.
Farfetched, maybe. But what a happy day that would be.
I know this idea by itself is ridiculous.
But I´ve voted for it anyway, because Origin should accept their customers as people, who have their own lives
instead of tying to hoard them like cattle and trying to bind them to the company via shady execution of software (If you try to launch certain Origin games through another Platform or just with custom Graphics or hardware settings, like more allocated RAM then it crashes, everytime).
So I really did vote for this because the PC is a valid Platform for gaming especially for those who want customization of how their games look and feel.
Also I voted for this because shady marketing choices hurt even the best games.
It is really sad to see, that great games can be so destroyed by marketing these days.
Take No Mans Sky for example, we all know how that went out.
Thing is: No Mans Sky was released to soon, because it was hyped. They just shipped an unfinished game, because they expected to make more money like that. The Developers on No Mans Sky didn´t even want to ship it.
Or take Ark: Survival Evolved (I should never have bought that). Instead of fixing gamebreaking bugs, they release so-called "DLCs", that are nothing more than a few changes in data like a different value for damage or movement speed.
I´m not against something like that, but I´m against pricing those at 20 bucks especially if the core game mechanics are swarming with bugs and the game is not even playable at more than 48 fps (turning in a game usually takes approximately half a second: at 48fps you will have one picture every 7.5 degrees, which resembles a slideshow).
Or just take preorder "Bonuses", which are often Overpowered weapons, that make the game less fun or weapons without which games become a hazzle.
If producers include that, then at least they should offer mod support, so players can balance their games themselves.
We dont need another "ET: The Extraterrestrial". We already had that and luckily we buried it.
So if I say, that EA (and other companies with similarly ruthless marketing departments like Uplay for example) should cut that bull out, then I´m not only saying this as a gamer because it´s morally fd-up, but also as someone who started a career as a game developer and would never want to work with such greedy people.
So if with this vote I´m telling the gog team to buy EA, then I´m really telling them, that I place trust in them and believe that the platform will still exist in 60 years, while I tell EA that they have ruthless marketing and exploit not only their customers, but also their developers, by not offering them the chance to create the best possible games.
And as I said before: I´d never want to work with EA´s marketing department neither in their company nor in a collaboration, because I have no respect for people who repeatedly and consciously scrape the surface of what is still acceptable as a game and what is not.
We don´t need another ET, and people who do just slightly more than that are only worth just slightly more than that.
We need this EA game on GOG: American McGee's Alice
EA and Ubisoft, they have made some great games, but EA Origin and Uplay is the biggest DRM-shit in gaming history, fuck them.
