Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok completed
This belong to GOG!!! Please!!!!
I would be great to have all the games of Crystal Shad here on GOG, and have some free games would be good for the store too!!! They have great games like Quest for Yrolg, A Tale of Two Kingdoms and of course Heroine's Quest!!! I know they are nitch games but still, incredible games!!!
GOG should have game like this!
Why is Quest for INfamy on GOG but not this?!
Yes, GOG really ought to have this game!! it really is such a good game, and it's FREE ! they could add the "developer appreciation package" $3 upgrade like Steam has, if they wanna get some money out of it.
seriously it's ridiculously good, long, detailed, fun, and in all ways better than i've ever seen for a free game. plays like a $20+ game tbh
GOG is really dumb to reject this game.
Yes, please!
Quest for Glory series, Quest for Infamy... Now we just need this gem to satisfy our thirst for classic(-like) Sierra role-playing adventure games :)
Seriously, this game is LEAGUES superior to Quest for Infamy and doesn't cost a cent. Is GOG afraid that a female lead will turn away potential buyers? Who cares? It's free.
"Crystal Shard applied to GOG and was rejected"
This made me feel sad.
I found this game on Steam after googling "Quest for glory female" and i was shocked i didn't even know about it before and GoG didn't have it.
I'm currently on my first playthrough and i love everything about it.
It feels like i'm back in time and playing an old adventure game all over!
This game is also available to download for FREE at Crystal Shard's website if Steam is not your cup of tea.
Please GoG, add this excellent game. These guys at Crystal Shard also deserve much kudos for this game.
A really good, FREE, point-and-click/RPG hybrid. Heroine's Quest would make a fine addition to GOG's library.
For those looking for a non-Steam version, it can be found here: www.indiedb.com/games/heroines-quest/downloads
Anyone who enjoyed Quest for Glory should get this.
Heroine's Quest has been a big hit on Steam, generating over 100 user reviews with a 98% positive rating. It has so far achieved a peak of 352 concurrent players according to SteamCharts.com.
Heroine's Quest also dominated the annual AGS awards:
Won, Best Game Created with AGS in 2013
Won, Best Gameplay 2013
Won, Best Dialogue Writing 2013
Won, Best Original Story 2013
Won, Best Puzzles 2013
Won, Best Background Art 2013
Won, Best Animation 2013
Won, Best Character Art 2013
Won, Best Sound Effects 2013
Won, Best Voice Work 2013
Won, Best Music 2013
Nominated, Best Player Character 2013
Nominated, Best Non Player Character 2013
Nominated, Best Programming 2013
I just want to be able to download the game without Steam.
So here's what I've inferred from various forums and social networks:
Crystal Shard applied to GOG and was rejected, which I can partially understand because it was a new game without many credentials, and GOG is a business and so is probably less inclined to go for free games. HOWEVER, free games do act as promotions and strengthen GOG by bringing in new users who may later become paying customers.
Heroine's Quest now has Screen 7 as a publisher, and has been approved for Steam. Screen 7 has an existing relationship with GOG ( www.gog.com/games##devpub=screen_7 ).
These credentials (along with glowing reviews) will give GOG much more incentive to take the game than they had originally.
It's unclear whether the initial application to GOG was made via the indie process ( www.gog.com/indie ). It would seem if GOG is serious about indies then Heroine's Quest, being one of the best indies out there would be a welcome addition to the platform.
I just finished as the warrior, and I'm way impressed!
I agree with the comment from laylia27 that it could be better than the QFG games which inspired it. Expect the full length, quality and complexity of a QFG game, which feels original, and with an added level of detail (e.g. tailored responses to using various items hotspots, sheer number of custom animations).
The game is also more engaging and fun than I expected!
Credits to the writers, but also in game design for eliminating sources of frustration: there's not much grinding, and ample opportunity to skill-up. There's a map so you can't get lost. There's auto-saves. It's difficult (if not impossible) to mess up to the point the game is unfinishable. The combat is really enjoyable compared to similar games. There's plenty of optional quests. The list goes on.... this is a true labour of love.
I've donated to the team and will be replaying as the other classes.
played 1.0 version as a hybrid rogue, this game has so much gameplay options in QfG style :)
Would love to see the v1.1 soon to redo some made mistakes on my part.
(apparently honor is an issue ^_^)
Such a fun game. More people should know about this!
I love GOG. I love Heroine's Quest. Other gamers who love GOG might love Heroine's Quest, such as people who love playing games. Heroine's Quest is such a game that someone on GOG might love, if they love games.
GOTY 2013. Games should be more like this.
'sup codex?
This game is awesome and more people must be made aware of its existence.
Apparently they already asked to distribute the game on gog before but were rejected :( Lets hope this vote works!
This is a truly amazing game. It's actually better than the wonderful Quest for Glory series it's inspired by. It has a similar playing style, but it doesn't feel derivative.
And having more free games on GOG will help draw people to the service :)
