abbayarra I've got the original multiple disk version of Final Fantasy VIII but I've not played it in years because of how how it is to get working well. I don't do steam but would love a version of it to be available on GOG.com
MOONMYST They have no idea how much I love this game. And you have even less idea how much I want this game on GOG. And if you add the Remastered version, it'd be even better.
abbayarra I have the disks all still in the original box with the sleeves, still looks great but is very hard to get working well. I'd love to have a version from GOG.com
Lionheart-1993 If you get the original release (the one with chocobo world) and patch the original soundtrack. It will be the Ultimate version.

rogerT I say go for it.. but... You need to include all the mods made in order to correct the music, the blurry FMV, etc.
Saamat I doubt it, since Gabe Newell (Steam) has an interest of having FFVIII as an exclusive. Still, the odds are way better than in case of FF VII. So I vote it up and see what happens.
MegisED I'd buy a DRM-free PC version, if it didn't have that abysmal midi soundtrack the original PC version came with.

Marscaleb I have this game on the PC.
It was a very good port; one of the best ports I've ever seen. I only encountered a couple graphical glitches with one of my graphics cards after upgrading. Other than that, it's slightly better than the original PS1 version, since the FMV's are a bit crisper and the textures are anti-aliased.
I'm not voting because I wouldn't actually buy it (since I have it) but I support your desire for this game.

Isbjornen Oh how I would love an updated version of this game. Maybe even throw in a good version of the soundtrack. The current PC version isn't quite up to the PS1 standard as far as I can tell.

The game is going to be re-released in Japan. That's a good sign for an US digital version as well, I'd say.

Alenonimo Well, SquareEnix released Final Fantasy VII for PC a while ago. Not really DRM free though. Quite possible they can release VIII too. Not on GOG, sadly.

008Zulu It took no small amount of effort, but I was able to purchase a copy of the PC version (in near mint condition), if the good folks at GoG are having difficulty locating a copy...
Crusader_bin The PC version is far superior! The way the modders fixed it is fantastic. Great graphics, no buggs, top sound, just perfected it all. Although I voted I don't expect Square Enix to help with this. They generally hate people playing their games lol Really, really bad support, etc.
Quarter Make sure to use the PS1 quality version of this. The pc one sucked.
Ichiro The only problem about this wish is, Square Enix will never bother, except probably at some lame price that even gog wouldn't settle for. Best to just hope for Square Enix to make a remake of the game, like they did for VII already sometime before. Can't remember which platform.
evogelion Please don't waste GOG's time with this.. especially since Square Enix will probably never give the rights. Besides if you google hard enough you can find a copy of FF7. I did.

008Zulu Had a random whim to play this game, but discs 1 and 2 have nasty scratches on them. Now I can't. I would like to be able to play it again. Can not find one legal place in the world that still sells it.
SirCabbage Yes oxy- BUT it would be awesome to have a proper GOG version which didn't require disk swapping or cracking (which on FF8 is a pain in the arse). I even tried burning all the disks to one dvd, and it "should" have worked, but it didnt. which is a shame. GOG would fix that. Also, FF8 is pretty hard to find legally now days- I have a legal copy.. but most people dont

Vulcan Aspect If this makes it to GOG please make the audio the same as the Playstation version. The original PC version had shitty audio compared to the PS1 version.
