Dark Earth
I got this game for Christmas in....97? 98? I was baffled by it, but I persevered, and I loved it. I would gladly pay to play it again. Hopefully with a PDF of the manual, that thing was THICK and had so much story in it!
I get nostalgiac for this game randomly but I have never been able to get a copy to function for very long without major bugs or crashes.
One of the most underrated game in the history. Ale that’s probably the reason why it would never be remastered nor remade. It’s a big loss and pity, because I frankly don’t know any other game from late 90s with comparable atmosphere, climate and “gloomy beauty” and number of possible choices like Dark Earth.
The story is kinda depressing and sour, but I absolutely loved the conjunction of “old” advanced world with “new” one resembling dark ages. The upper and lower cities, the shadows of outskirts visible from the city walls… and the fact the plot was not linear (well, the there was one ending though). There were many ways to push the story forward, many locations that could even remain unvisited - who ever found the location of some kind of tropical jungle outside the city?? I did at the 2nd attempt to the game.
I remember playing a demo version from some game magazine which ended straight after leaving the main living quarters, so just before the actual story started. But the world seems to be so mysterious and dark that I couldn’t forget it and dreamed of playing the full game. It was neither available nor probably affordable in Poland in 1997-1998. Not mentioning the fact I didn’t really understood English as a teenager.
In 2002 a full version with Polish subtitles was added to a game magazine “Świat gier komputerowych”. That’s when I had a first opportunity to go deep into the story and world of Dark Earth. I fell in love immediately.
I still owe that version on my shelf.
I would really love to see it here on GOG.
Guys, you’re really the last place where it could happen. Don’t let the old pearls vanish and disappear!
This game is a masterpeace and any shop is selling it!!!
Would like to revisit the game, too. Please list!
yes please
I would be interested in revisiting this game.
This is one of those games i wanted when it came, but I never got hold of it. Would love a crack at it today!
A remake of this classic would be nice... Great story...
Quintessential example of story-rich action games in the 90s. Absolute classic.
Fügen sie es bitte hinzu

Please add this game (Dark Earth), because I want to buy it and play it to remember my childhood.
3900th! Please do it! The memories of the first few scenes that came in a pc magazine demo cd still bubble up from time to time. I was getting good at that practice no-real-hit fight with the guard captain lady
add this gem please!!!

more important than oxygen
It really would be a nice one to bring back.

We need it
06.04.23 - GOG! We need this game! =)
2023 with almost 4K up votes. C'mon GOG! This game needs to be re-released to easily play on modern systems OR remade. Someone who worked on the game has to know who currently owns the rights. Please find a way to bring this great game back!!
GeminiREbirth, have you tried to write them through social networks? They answered me a question by private message on Facebook.
Since I played it in christmas 97 I have never forgotten this game. If there is one that I would love to see here it is this
The situation on this is a bit complicated. There is a will to buy back the rights and publish it on GoG and the game is like 99% fixed for a modern release, but sadly locating the copyright holder isn't that easy and there's no straight way to contact GoG about it. Tried to send them an inquire email, explaining that my team is interested in publishing over here with the blessing of the original director, if GoG can help with the copyright mess, but so far silence.
No idea where to smash my head currently, hopefully some publisher can help unlock this situation.
I'd like to play again this
Please make it happen <3
We need this game on GOG, so many people want it.
I only ever got to play a demo of this game back when I was a child, and now I can't find it available anywhere- make it happen GOG!
I need this game back. I don't know who owns the rights to Dark Earth, whether it's Nicolas Gaume, Guillaume Le Pennec or some filmmaker, but we need them to make the game available to everyone. Thanks.
Yes please!
Just do it.
Would be great!
work your magic GOG and bring this forgotten gem back <3
Oh yes pls <3
incredible world
I don't really participate on gog much but there are exceptions. This is an amazing game, on par with other imaginative french titles of that time like Little Big Adventure. Please give it a chance to be experienced by new players in modern pc compatible re-release form.
+1, please bring it back!
pretty please release Dark Earth, it deserves to be revived!!!!!
This game and the world it created was truly a work of art, certainly deserving a place in GOG's catalogue.
try to bring this game to the store, i would like to play it again
I have the original game in the box but I can't run it on windows 10
Would be nice to see this on the site, so we can buy it x.x
Absolutely agreed that this game should be on GOG. This is an ultimate gem of it's age and must be available again for purchase.
go guys, this is a hidden gem
it seems like a game that'd be a complete shame to miss out on!
Bought this from a Cash Converters while living in France in 2000. Didn't quite grok how similar the game was to RE until later, but it's compelling and immersive in exactly the same way. The combat sucks but the voice acting is some of the best in early-00s video games. The art and story absolutely mainline the heyday of stylish, euro sci-fi comics from the 90s. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it were made a good old game and is totally worthy of a place here.
