Despite the bugs that come with the game, some unofficial patches and fixes can easily fix them. A must-have for all! Such an under-rated title deserves some notice.

N1TE3YE GOG - Please get this game added to your website for DRM free download! The whole world is doing the whole "pirates game" genre a COMPLETE, utter disservice. Why do we have 2 early Sea Dogs games, but no PROPER follow-through with Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships? This is nonsense, I want a real pirate game released on GOG.com please.

mrgreen9705 Now that both Sea Dogs and Caribbean tales are available hopefully this will be next. Very hard to obtain nowadays. The Sea Dogs series is one of my all time favorites.

Yeiiow While the vanilla game has a few bugs(some of them game breaking) with the "Gentlemen of Fortune" MOD, the game feels very polished and exquisite.
It is by far the best pirate Simulator/RPG out there, even if the graphics are dated.

Shigawire Akella should do another pirate game! They have done things very well so far.
lordeld Semi steep learning curve, but 100% worth it. The Akella sailing/pirate game series (Sea Dogs, POTC, Age Of Pirates 1 & 2) are the only games I know of that are true open world games set in the age of sail. Gameplay to me feels similar to Morrowind or Oblivion set in the 1600's with great ships. You can hire various NPC officers to help you in your adventures. Trade, fight, capture other ships, hunt treasure, all totally free roam! The graphics have aged pretty well IMO, and with the HIGHLY recommended "piratesahoy.net" mods, the game is nearly bug free. The only cons for me is the clunky interface that takes a while to get used to. But once you learn to navigate the menu system, it will make sense.

GogBadger Just now trying to get my old copy working but it really doesn't want to and I don't think my tech kung fu is strong enough for the task. I'd buy this again if GOG worked their magic. But it'd have to be pretty potent magic because the vanilla game is very buggy.
Redcard.931 I adored Seadogs, bought AoP:CT and was foiled by its ridiculously over the top copyright protection. Been searching for a (legit) way to play the AoP games for a long time now...
Sævius Being Russian, I'd want to tell that English versions of all of the games in this Akella's serie are bugged even more than Russian analogues :) But nevertheless it's such a fantastic game serie, unmatched pirate life simulayor. Sid's Pirates comparing with it is just a kiddish arcade, really.
