Manual sorting
Heck I'd just be satisfied with being able to put your games in alphabetical order.
I am here to raise my voice oveer this subject. I am a new customer for GOG.COM and after purchasing several games to start my collection I see the by "title" sorting puts my collection being Ultima 3 before Ultima 2 and Ultima 4 before Ultima 1. How is it possible you cannot arrange your games manually? It is supposedly your collection but you have to depend on the logic of who knows what sorting system to order your collection. Very frustrating.
For how long should we been waiting to be able to manually arrange games? Really make me puke to see Final Fantasy XIII and then FFX, FFIV and so on~ Dude, IV comes before XIII !!!
Well, at least custom tags and hidden games are a thing.
I just laugh out loud that this feature isn't implemented already xD
Strange people with weird dev priorities lol
totally agree.. it is dumb to have one large library with installed games but no option to sort them manually as you want the way you could make collections on steam...
Yes, definitely! I miss the option to tidy up my games a lot!
how come nothing been done about this, when it's 5 years old request. Hope they do this soon.
voice added to this cause!
We can continue to support game developers directly on their website, or shop on Steam or Itch.io, where clients are fully functional as they should be. But please do not support this company, which completely ignores the wishes of customers.
Friends, please do not support GOG by purchasing their games. To date, the Cd Projekt has not been able to add such an important function to the Galaxy client as sorting games according to the date of purchase.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS COMPANY, BECAUSE ONLY IT IS FORCED TO DO SOMETHING !!!
They still work on unimportant features like adding games from Steam, but that's a minor thing that's not important at all at the moment.
In the pursuit of customers, for Steam clients to switch to GOG, CDPROJECT has set itself many unnecessary tasks and completely ignores the basic one. And when they ignore us, paying customers, they need to be given back the same amount.
DO NOT BUY ON GOG.COM UNTIL Cd Project HEARS TO LISTEN TO THE WISHES OF YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS. Thank you for understanding. Other tactics do not apply to Cd Project!
Even something akin to the way you can sort your iTunes library. I guess it's called Music now, but it's still far more effective than GOG Galaxy in its current state. In Apple's said Music application, you can input unique information across multiple fields, allowing you to collapse a series of albums by the same composer or artist into order, despite the arbitrary alphabetical organization of differing artist pseudonyms, album titles, or release years.
If manual sorting were enabled, we could sort games within their chronological series. As it stands right now, sorting by title alone means my CD Projekt Red games read, from left to right, The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3, and then the first Witcher game. Or even worse, since I've connected my Steam account, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VIII. It's just annoying being bound by strict sorting by title.
I had made a bunch of tags that allowed me to group each game into a subcategory of its developer, much like an actual library of books would sort them by author. I would then sort by release date, but even this doesn't alleviate all the issues with such strict title sorting. Being able to reverse the sorting rules, from Z-A or oldest to newest instead of only their inverse options, would be an improvement too. But this is again a platitude when we should be able to sort and even delete our games at leisure manually.
Anyone out there have any news on this feature?
I got my BETA invite waaaay later than expected so missed out on the early stuff. Sucks they removed simple manual sorting. I'd take that over nothing, but I would still very much like to see a "sort title" field that can be implemented on the meta data to "manual sort" items on the back end but still show the default title name. Ideally, we would have the option to both sort by a meta field, and actually change the the display name as well. I'll keep holding out hope that they reinstate and/or add these features in the future.
So far, I am liking this. The only thing I have noticed is that ALL of my integrations disconnect randomly (like every day) so I have to go in and click "Connect" and accept all of the dialog boxes after. Obliviously this is a bug. I also noticed when this happens it moves disconnected integrations to the bottom of the bookmark list. Again super annoying, but I'm sure they will get all of this fixed in time.
Well. There WAS simple manual sorting, but they fucking removed it.
This is a standard feature in Kodi and Plex (Media Servers), and in PlayNite and LaunchBox (Similar Platforms). I am shocked to see that the "end all be all" of the game equivalent does not have "Sort Title" or "Sort Order" or "Display Title". Please add this field under the "Title" field within the "Info" tab. This would allow us all to micro manage our libraries and ensure games are displayed in the correct series, chronological, or any other OCD order desired. In my opinion, this is the killer feature that would put all other similar platforms to rest. Add it and I am here for LIFE. Thanks GOG! You guys ROCK!
+1
Manual sorting and categories, please. Absolutely necessary the former - when you have an automated 'sort by name' system that usually puts the first game in a series AFTER its sequels - and a helpful feature the latter, should one want to separate classics from current gen titles.
Thanks!
Kareemkk, you can manually sort by using category tags; go to library and look at top row: Genre System Lnaguage Features Tags. But you need to tediiously assign a tag to every single game you have, after creating your tag categories.
also to be able to CATEGORIZE games would be awesome! such as FPS, Third-person, RPGs, and so on!
I don't even know why GOG, a company that seems to be dedicated towards being consumer friendly, lacks the foresight to add something as basic as manual sorting in their gaming application.
Please, for the love of GOG, stop ignoring this and add it already. It would be one of very few edges GOG Galaxy would have over Steam, which let's face it, you need.
I would also appreciate the ability to manually sort the games in my library. Each series in alphabetical order then each title for each series in proper order.
I really would like this feature as well. I usually sort my games alphabetically, but that doesn't work very well. For example, Ultima IX should obviously come AFTER Ultima VIII, not before. Manual sorting allows us to fix things like that.
please !!! please !!!
Is there no money to be made in improving Galaxy the reason this has been left forgotten? All resources are going toward money projects like games? Your most loyal buyers are the ones with the big libraries that need a sorting tag system with AND/OR/NOT options (or some other way) to organize the games we have bought. Come on. Listen. Do it.
C'mon guys, you can do it!
Pretty please
fucking BUMP
Give us back manual sorting.
Three years people have been asking for this. How difficult is it to implement?
+1. I remember being able to manually sort games, but not anymore. What happened? Honestly this feature should be a no-brainer...
Being able to manipulate the TAG systm would solve alot of issues. Needed two things. 1) ability to tag multiple games easily. 2) the ability to filter by more than one tag. Example, I want to play a Space Simulation game but not a Space Adventure Point and Click. The ability to sort via Space AND Simulation is vital.
Manual sorting with grouping for series. Have lots of games in a series I would like to be able to group them seperately, maybe in a expand/collapse folder. Manual sorting is priority.
Well - given the choice I would most probably sort them alphabetically by hand anyway. Still it angers me that the choice was not given at all.
Allowing people the ability to manipulate and customise their very own piece of the "galaxy" has got to be a priority, after all, a happy customer becomes a loyal customer and isn't that what it's all about?
I was ordered my games manually looonngg time ago. And now I opened my list all of them go to default positions (again aggghh:@) Why remove manual ordering when no reason for remove? At least tell us why removed huh?
Correction... the second time I opened my Library it was all alphabetical.
370 games purchased over the years, and no way to manually sort, like alphabetize to find one faster. Since downloading is slow, I don't always download all as I purchase them. Tend to purchase large clumps during annual big sale, then not get around to downloading at that time, but come back later to download at convenience when I can tie up my internet link getting them onto my pc. Also, just want to be able to sort when looking thru my library for certain games, or certain types of games. How much staff time would it require to create a scripted, reliable sort user's library function?
With the ever increasing library we have, it's time to reconsidering this possibility. The "recently played" filter, isn't even working on the main library screen ffs (it do work on the left planel list, however). I just want to organize my library how I want, you now, like we used to do when it was possible.
Still no news about this?
I refuse to buy from gog again until they give us back manual sorting. I spent hours categorizing my big library to my personal rules, and it was taken away overnight.
Please, can we have some sorting options?
Bring back the old functionality that was so cruelly taken away.
order by price and order by discount percentage ! Especially in wishlist
It's more than half a year, and still manual sorting isn't back. I was so upset about my collection being messed up in this reckless way that I stopped buying on gog altogether. I hate buying on steam, but they haven't screwed with me like this, so it still feels better to buy there, drm or not.
Well, I found the tags, which does make it somewhat easier, but it's still no replacement for manual sorting.
WTH?? We can't manually sort anymore? So, if I want, for example, to only show the 6 or so games that I own that GoG no longer sells, I have to "hide" the nearly 400 other games one at a time?? Ridiculous. FIX THIS.
To make it short: 1. Manual Sorting, 2. Visible title of category/tag, 3. Please fix the bug which doesn't let me sort my tags =)
I'd like to have user specified categories and sorting. For example "Completed", "Didn't like", "Game in Progress", "Replayable game", "Unplayed"
+1 for manual sorting. We'd like freedom: manually customisable groups/tags/collapsible categories would do us justice. Maybe if we can decorate the place also, put some cosy furniture around and warm our tired gaming feet in front of a fireplace with a glass brandy :) You know: make us feel at home in our library...
This 1000x.
What baffles me is that this option already existed and you took it away without any reason. I went to a lot of trouble to have my 300+ game library neatly organized according to my own tastes, and it was gone in a moment. It was so easy to just drag the games into the place I wanted them, this tag nonsense just isn't the same.
Just restore manual drag-and-drop sorting like it was before (while maintaining the automatic sorting and tags for people who like them, of course), and it'll be OK.
What a mess my collection is now. Let me sort it.
At first this kind of thing seemed petty to me but as I add more game into the client I am seeing this becoming an issue quickly. At the minimum we should have a "favourite" button to pin certain games near the top for later.
For the love of all things shiny, please bring manual sorting back. I used to have the history of D&D RPGs arranged by release year, because that was the order I wanted to play them in... now they are scattered between Myst and Riven and it's all a giant demotivating mess. I feel like someone went through my wardrobe and organised all my clothes by colour instead of garment type, and I can't fix it. Please let me arrange MY library the way I want it.
