Bandwidth limit completed
This definitely hasn't been fixed yet.
I'm currently trying to download a game.
The GoG 2.0.51 client claims that it's downloading at 22-25 mbs.
I've 1000 down 100 Up.
My entire internet is crippled while trying to download.
Youtube doesn't load previews properly.
Steam can't load preview images. my latency is spiking in games.
I have limited the speed in the GoG client to no effect.
Definitely the last time I buy any sizable game on GoG.
musthave
Oscar45 you've misunderstood the requirement. Users need to be able to limit the UPLOAD speed to stop asymmetrical connections being drowned into uselessness. 100 mbit will give you a bare trickle downstream if your upstream is 2mbit and the client DESTROYS it. This is a basic feature of any torrent client.
Don't know why you guys are still commenting, this was pushed in the 1.2.0 on March 22, 2017.
Damn near 2 SOLID years of comments, almost no month was missed where some one was stating the need for this to be implemented and still.....STILL its not put to use...either they messed it up so bad it cant be and they are to scared to admit it or they don't give a shit about their community or how to build a proper program
Seriously, This should've been implemented from the START
Seriously. I have a 70Mbit connection and can't even stream music while installing a game.
It's been TWO YEARS, how is this not implemented yet? Come on GoG, you guys are better than this!
This and a Linux version are the two things I want the MOST!
+1 for this feature. I've a 35Mbp/s link, always get 3.5MBp/s connectins on Steam, nut on Galaxy I'm always getting at maximum 1.4Mbp/s while trying to download The Witcher 3 (38GB total download size).
Yup, my internet gets destroyed as soon as I hit the download button on Galaxy.
For me, thats a core-feature of a Software to download games/media, for loading in the background.
The problem is GOG Galaxy is nothing but a torrent program. I am uploading as well as downloading at max speeds with my connection as soon as GOG Galaxy starts.
If I wanted a torrent program to download stuff I would use it. I want to be able to throttle my upload as well as my download instead of maxing my connection.
If I'm forced to use your downloader to install possibly large games I need it to do two things: download stuff, and limit the rate of downloading stuff. That's really all I need. Please.
A limiter would be great, my Internet connection is limited and there are other people using it
i say online 0.3MB/S and i have a 1GB/S line :@ whats this??!!!
We realy need option for download speed limit. I tried to download Witcher and speed vary form 0,4 kbs to 6 mbs, while I get stable 5 mbs on Steam. C'mon guys it isn't such a hard thing to do.
How is this not already part of the Galaxy program? Jesus.
Its a lovely setting - but for all you people in need of a solution right now there are ways! bwcontrol on sourceforce or a copy of netlimiter will allow you to restrict bandwidth of applications such as GoG
soo.. i am not too stupid to find it. yay
I agree with this, but in the other sense that I should be able to increase my download speed. I get over 8MB/s with Steam, but only 1.5MB/s with this program... I agree that we need to be able to select our own limits.
Yes please. Like a lot of people, I share my internet with a flatmate. I have to wait for him to go to bed to download with Galaxy because otherwise he can't do anything online all evening.
Steam, Origin, uPlay... Not having the ability to throttle bandwidth makes Galaxy useless to me and many others, apparently.
Wow, came to see if this was supported. Over a year of comments for a basic feature, you have to be kidding me.
Come on, I really do not understand why this hasn't more votes already. Steam has it, even uPlay has it by now. If you ever wanted to download stuff in the background while doing anything else on the internet on the same time, bandwidth limitation is a MUST.
This is a basic requirement for digitally distributed media.
It seems ridiculous that this feature hasn't been added yet!
I find it hard to believe this wasn't implemented from the start and even harder to believe it hasn't been added yet. Even if I'm heading to bed my family is still up and using our internet.
Yea, just went back to Downloader. Got a new lappy and have a couple hundred gigs to download, but I'd like to still have a little b/w available for other things and Galaxy can't do that, which is nuts
Seriously, though. I'd like to be able to use my internet.
This is VERY necessary!
+1
I'm unfortunately unwilling to use a platform (however beautiful its UI may be) without such a basic and necessary feature.
Not bothering to use this garbage until the basic feature is added.
I enabled "Receive preview updates" just to see if this was a feature in the beta client. No such luck. Please GOG.
Never had a programm that saturated my bandwidth so efficent than GOG galaxy... And this is not a compliment xD
implement this +100000 !!!! :D
Oh, you can't get Gwent without Galaxy.. Well I guess I won't be playing it then.
My Galaxy UX: Start downloading Gwent. My video starts lagging cause not enough bandwidth. Google this thread. Oh I can use GOG Downloader to get Gwent? Uninstall Galaxy.
GOG Downloader is still better than Galaxy. This feature should've been there on the first version.
Really? This feature is a must!
Bandwith limit would be great.
Wow, is GOG in cahoots with Origin?? Such big companies can't do something as simple and download throttle?
Please implement it asap. Really important feature!
This needs to be implemented ASAP.
Wow, no bandwidth limit really sucks. When will they implement it?
with games of 30 gb size it takes a while with my 30Mbit connection. also i share with flatmates, and they are regularily pissed when connection speed is down to good old modem times for HOURS.
come on, guys. galaxy will never close the gap to steam if such important features are STILL missing.
This needs to happen.. :( Ironically Galaxy itself chokes when trying to manage games or perform any task while it's downloading because it's such a hog.
Please implement this. This is a very important feature, critical for many users who want to let the people they share the internet connection with to still be able to comfortably browse the web.
Moreover, it should be very easy to implement this feature, so it's really weird that it still hasn't been done.
Uninstalled for now.
How in the the hell is this not implemented yet?
Just copy + Paste the code from the gog downloader.
