It's 1976... a different '76. Stretched out before you are thousands of miles of desert - the American Southwest. The massive engine roars as you slam down the throttle. It's time to get funked up...
You are Groove Champion, auto-vigilante. Your agenda: payback for your dead sister. Your weapon: A 425-horsepower '72 Picard Piranha with two 50-caliber machine guns on the roof and a flamethrower on the side. You're one mean dude in an even meaner ride.
They've messed with the wrong Champion.
Includes the original Interstate'76 and its expansion Interstate'76: Nitro Pack
Cinematic atmosphere, fast-paced action and an immersive story
Awesome soundtrack with funky disco tunes
Throwback Thursday Recommendation
We share the earnest reasons that make a classic game so dear to us! Recommended by Pawel aka BANAN Senior Event Manager at CD PROJEKT RED:
USA - check!
70s - check!
Great music - check!
Fuel crisis - unfortunately, check!
Interstate 76 setting gives us a wild ride (literally) into solving a crime of your sister's murder. You're the hero, aptly-funkily named Groove, who's not into fighting gangs and crime lords. However, with your trusted partners Taurus, Jade and Skeeter - you will get to the bottom of this!
I remembered the game having actually two main heroes. You, Groove and your car - Picard Piranha. And let me tell you - I had LOADS of fun using a variety of guns on it. Machine guns, rocket launchers or mines and oil spills - they will help you against your opponents and there's plenty of them on the roads. As with all the partners in life - you gotta take care of the car - fix it, upgrade it and pat it on the trunk.
I was in awe when it comes to the sound design in this game - you're getting all the car-related mumbo-jumbo screeching/hitting/exploding mixed with 70s funk. Hell, I was launching the games just for the music at times!
Who's not into surviving the fuel crisis and solving your sister's murder by driving a muscle car on USA's roads fighting the bad guys using a machine gun mounted on your car's roof?
Anybody?
Yeah, I thought so!
