I use Vista 64bit and my PC is a monster (GTX280's SLI etc etc)
Now I know all too well how hard it was to get Mesiah to work in the past, problem is the game seems to run REALLY slow if I look at flames (from barrels which explode) if I turn around the framerate goes through the roof.
Every game I've tried so far works great except for Mesiah.
Any options I can change or tweak to get this game to work properly? I just want a playable Mesiah game (cries) :p

I am too on vista 64bit and was pumped to play this game again. I started it up and right at the opening sceen I said "AWEEEEE" something is making the same stutter and get all skipping around. Unplayable sadly. I hope this can be fixed.
I'm having the exact same issue. Although, I'm running Vista 32 bit.
Ok try to play the game in 16bit guys, when you select the resolution make sure it says something like 1280x1024=16 instead of 32.
That didn't completly fix the performance, but it's tons faster than it was with me.
On XP 32 bit, Radeon X1950XTX... Same issues. Putting the color at 16 bit didn't change anything.
When you first open Gate 4 and you have that big glass window with all the things flying around... I get about 12 FPS there.
I didn't get the game when I had a Voodoo 3 because of the performance problems.
I am too on Vista 64 with 8800 GTX. I'm having a slight stutter when I'm facing toward fire, especially at the beginning of the game.
I tried to run it in 16bit but it didn't improve much. But other than that, Messiah works great. Hopefully anyone find a solution or release a patch that will fix the problem shortly.
off hand what video cards are you guys using?
my friend has had a lot of problems with radeon and ATI cards while running this game on his vista.
and yes he swaped them both.
out of twisted kindness i let him use one of my old 256mb nvdia pci cards and game seemed to work.
BTW i did take my vidcard back for my other project.
I'm using a GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (G92)
I really want to play this game, but it's unbearably slow. I can't even play 15 minutes without getting angry at the performance.

Vista 64, 8800GTS with 178.24 WHQL
It's unplayable, the performance issues are a real hindrance and become monstrous when a fight starts....
Right now it's just 5.99$ thrown out of the window :(
I'm on XP SP3, Radeon X1800XT. Major slow down as well. Although I did notice it managed to speed up as soon as I got rid of engineer I'd been controlling from the start and possessed the soldier. But as soon as I turn the corner with the 3 soldiers upstairs and 2 scientists downstairs it gets even worse. Obviously character models are causing the problem.
Is this just an ATI problem?
Also anybody else have the Depth Buffer and Anti Aliasing option greyed out?

try rolling back to sp 2 then swap card for nvidia chipset based vid card.
i recently tried my buddies ati card and urhg! i DO not want to even talk about it. it seems that the drivers that came with original messiah were not using some of the more popular hardware at the time but something else. it had been long time since i even bothered to look to see what it was.

That's a shame. I was really looking forward to this. Well, as soon as I can afford to buy an nvidia card, maybe then I'll get to play it.
Yeh, same problem here. 8800GTX, vista 64 bit. The game stutters to the point of not being playable. Was so looking forwards to this too, I never got to finish it because of crashes back when it was new!

deathkitten: this isnt a tech support forum it's just for general help from other forum peoples, if you want proper help email GOG and explain maybe they will fix it

If you check the other forum post to do with ATI 1300/1550 problems you will know GOG do not have the source code for Messiah so cannot fix the problem. Personally, I was just wanting to know if it was just ATI cards that had the problem or maybe there was a community 'fix' out there.

not sure about the 1300/1550 cards, but my 3850 hd runs it decent. it's still ugly as hell, but it's definitely playable. anybody try fooling with "desired framerate" option to see if that helps?
