ceson: A great article for a great game. May I suggest that this become a reoccuring feature on the more popular games? I'm sure there are some top stories to be told about Fallout and Sacrifice. Maybe a post-mortem on Operation Flashpoint? Just saying! :)

chautemoc: I think most if not all the Fallout stories are included in the Fallout bible. ;)

That's correct! Forgot about that. And a +1 for you good sir!
This is why I signed up with GOG, great articles.

Wow, I'm glad I read that. Very emotional towards the end.
I loved this game since the day it came out... well actually a month or so after it came out. I was in Europe at the time. This is one of the first games I bought there and have enjoyed playing it ever since. I still play MP with some friends of mine and get a kick from the features introduce in the game play.
I must also say that the article was very informative and keep me reading. I really enjoyed it. Good Job GOG. I look forward to more interesting articles.
GOG, you make the life of Good games last longer, Giants being one of them. Thank you.
Great site!

deathkitten: it kind of reminds me of that Cannon Fodder video where you see all these people using their creativity to make a funny real life video :)

Are you talking about Press Play On Tape? I was at that gig. It was hilarious! :-D

deathkitten: what the hell no thats sad
I meant this like was posted on general forum before http://youtube.com/watch?v=hDxCBx9Xb1I

So, Jon Hare (who wrote the song) making a music video with the rest of the development team of the game is cool and creative, but Jon Hare (still the guy who wrote the song) playing the same song 12 years later with a retro gaming band on game controllers is sad?
Missed this the first time around, but yet another interesting thing about Giants is that Jeremy Soule did the music. I can hear echoes of Giants in other games scored by him, and I always smile when I hear them.
Another great thing about Giants is the setting. I think writer Bruce Geryk pointed out that shooters at that time generally took place in bunker-like environments and certainly not on tropical islands.
And oh yeah: "TIMMMMMMMY!"
Is there anyway to get high resolution versions of the images shown in the article?
Yes please high res pics of the stuff from the editorial article would be awesome! Please GOG ask your contacts at company if you need to? :)
I just finished this game yesterday after buying it from this site. I had no idea about its existence when it came out and only got interested when I read something about it. It was such a different experience, even from most of the games that come out today. It was only after the credits rolled that I realized how awesome a sequel would be, especially with today's graphical and programming power.

Kabuto FTW.
Best videogame ever made. 'Nuff said.
One of the best games ever ! A decade after.. and I'm still playing this game =D

P.S. You can improve the graphics & special effects by downloading some stuff.. Don't remember the process.. but you can tweak the game and make it look better

I'm confused, where is the editorial? I can't seem to find it.
I can't seem to find the Giants: Citizen Kabuto editorial either. :/

Wondered that myself, found it by using the Internet Wayback Machine:
