Hi folks..

As the topic suggests, is there a way to use a custom executable through the Galaxy client and not have the overlay get disabled?

Thanks

There is a way but it's a bit more complicated. What do you want to do exactly and for which game?

Hi, thanks for the reply, I would like to be able to run both Fallout 4 and Skyrim with mods and also have the GOG Galaxy overlay active but at the moment I can only get the games and the mods to run with the launcher with a custom executable but it seems to disable the overlay.

I would like to have the overlay for screenshots/notifications/achievements etc.

Thanks

Alright, could you please tell me the names and paths of the custom executables inside the game folder?
Also, do these custom executables launch the original Fallout4.exe / SkyrimSE.exe?

Best would be a screenshot from the custom executable menu in Galaxy, so that I can see what you've linked exactly.

Hi

So for fallout 4, it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Fallout 4 GOTY\f4se_loader.exe

Ok, let's go. First, please download this zip.
It contains a modified config file that should allow you to run Fallout 4 from the Script Extender executable with working overlay. Since the extender also supports .dll injection, it could be possible that the game will crash or that the overlay just isn't working. Just try it.

Now here's how to install the modified file:

1. Exit Galaxy. (Close it completely)
2. Extract the downloaded file into the game's installation folder and overwrite the existing one.
3. Now move the whole installation folder to a directory on the same partition where Galaxy isn't looking for your installed games (In my case i moved it to the desktop)
4. Restart Galaxy.
5. Move the installation folder back to where it was before.
6. Search for the game inside Galaxy. (It'll show as not installed)
7. Right click on the game's cover, "Manage installation" and "Import folder". Select the game's folder and add it to Galaxy again.
8. Now you should find a new entry in "Additional executables" named "Fallout 4 Script Extender"
9. Start the game from it and hopefully enjoy it with a working overlay.

That worked perfectly my friend, thank you so much! The overlay is working, fps counter, achievements etc. Apologies for the late reply. :)
