lukaszthegreat: that's how my main page of youtube looks like. completely unusable.
carlosjuero: That is.. ugly :/ - my YouTube home page is the same as it has been for a few months now [they keep on changing stuff up in the back end though]. I hope I don't end up seeing that new layout, I like my current layout.
I'm sure this doesn't come as a shock or anything but Google is super shitty at user interfaces. It's a bunch of engineers who don't understand usability and don't understand why anyone would care. Hell, they publish guidelines for Android app consistency and then violate them (I'm look at you, Google Goggles, you fucking piece of shit).
Mind you, the functionality of their stuff can still be really useful (e.g. labels in GMail are really handy) it's just the UI sucks horrid ass, they tend to have no consistency, they tend to not understand their audience, they tend to alienate users with disabilities (no default font size setting on Chrome is a huge "fuck you" to anyone with vision issues).
Google does not get it when it comes to this, culturally, they don't get it and won't get it to any great extent without a massive cultural shift. Microsoft does a better job on user interfaces than Google generally, shocking I know, but it's true.
