Well great, looks like this redesign is live for everyone now, and it's absolute shite.

Every little thing subscriptions do is compacted into a column, no longer divided by uploader into sections, you can no longer remove videos, the liked/favourited/uploaded icon has been replaced with the subscriptions avatar so you're forced to read the small text rather than glancing at the icon, and god knows what else i've failed to mention.

Who the fuck thought this design was in anyway good?
Huge... blocky... awkward... must... resist... killing... self... because of... horrible interface...

God, I fear the day when the new gmail layout will become mandatory. They should stab the designer in the spleen for that, seriously.
Oh, it's THIS thread again.

can't speak about FB but this layout is definitely worse than previous one. after 3 weeks i got used to it but it is shittier than previous one. the one column for your subscription is crap. and if you do not have any subscription then it is empty while before the place was taken by something else
I like the new layout a lot. Sorry guys, if you thought the old layout was more functional you are a crazy person. It was impossible to sort between subscribed pages without going to their channel page, and the channel pages were a mess.

Is this design perfect? Probably not. Is it better than the mess it was before? I would say yeah.

But there is a checkbox to limit the front page to uploads only, without showing what the users you subscribe to liked and favourited and such. I didn't see that on lukaszthegreat's screenshot, but I have it, and that seems to be the main complaint in this thread.

I would be fine with it if they included in the checkbox: Show only video's uploaded by subsciptions and no highlight, spotlight, recommended, featured and other crap. (and connect to your facebook)

The screenshot is old. first change when i was in beta.

how was old system bad? main page, subscription field (which you had to check only once) and you could see everything sorted by who uploaded what. not everything stuck together with giant icons god knows what for.
a month ago i could see at least 3 dozen videos on my screen. now only 5.
it wasn't perfect while this one is not complete shit (it was 3 weeks ago cause there was no option for only uploads and it was broken) but older allowed me to navigate through my videos quicker and see everything faster. now i have to go to each subcription, one by one to actually see whether they uploaded something recently (as i have three channels which upload at lest 3 videos a day.)

The new subscription box is the worst. I used to be able to see all the videos people I subscribe to upload by just a few scrolls, now I have to scroll for minutes to check everything that's been uploaded.
Please tell me someone'll make a script or something to fix this.

Well, I prefer being able to split the different subscription feeds into different tabs, so I know who uploaded what video and can catch up on individual feeds without sorting through all my other subscriptions. Though I have a lot more subscriptions than 3.

Also, if you click on the subscriptions button on the side (exactly like to used to have to do for the old one, expect the subscriptions button was at the top), it shows a chronological order of all the videos uploaded. Which seems to be exactly what you want.

So long as the show uploads only box is checked, I think the new page is way better than the old one. Sure, there was nothing wrong with the old one, but there was nothing wrong with black and white movies, or 4bit graphics, or Apple IIs, or anything else like that. There's always room for improvement.
I completely fail to see how the new layout is in any way better than the old, being able to filter by subscription doesn't seem to help in anyway, it just seems to serve to try and compensate for the practicality that was removed in this new design.

Thankfully, you still seem to be able to access the old design through http://www.youtube.com/home, so I guess i'm going to keep on using that for now.
Worst of all, it logged me out. Now i can't login without logging to GMail. I was able to unlink YTfrom GMail, but now i can't reset my YT password. I guess i'll have to use a special browser just for YT. convenience my ass.
People with group emails must be really pissed now.

Also, TIL i'm not in good standing with something, despite never uploading a single video.

As to the new UI, well, it's got tons of things i couldn't care about. I even see some Google+ thing with my name, but i don't have an account there. Gah.

[edit]
Rage sponsored by my hatred forwards the "like" system, as if anyone really cared how many people like stuff and the fact that YT movies freeze on every browser i have, whenever i touch the volume slider. And i've fixed that one a month ago. Gah!

yes. thats the problem. ALL the videos uploaded. in one column. not divided by uploaders but everyone is grouped together.
so basically on my main page i have only linustechtips, omfgcata and totalhalibut. everything is overshadowed. and if i don't visit youtube in few days i have to go to each subscription page instead of watching videos from main page.
Let me introduce you to YouTube RSS feeds provided by the api and you'll never need to visit the front page of youtube again
http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/2.0/reference.html#youtubeDataAPIFeedTypes

For example last 50 videos of Planescape Torment let's play from allaunira:
using the user specific feed
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/allaunira/uploads?orderby=updated&vq=torment&max-results=50
using the general feed
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/videos?max-results=50&q=torment&author=allaunira&orderby=updated

Also YouTube Enhancer for much better youtube experience.

It's still the exact same thing, except the videos are in a vertical line instead of a four column grid. Which I find works better, because Youtube had a strange habit of grouping the videos in bizarre ways (why is a four month old video in the same line as two recent videos, and underneath a two week old video?). Maybe if the old system had functioned better I'd be more nostalgic, but it never worked for me. I ended up having to use RSS feeds to make sense of it.

Just log onto Youtube, scroll down until you see something you've already watched and work your way up. Just like Twitter and Facebook and Google+ and nearly every Web 2.0 social media site out there.
