Does Valhalla Chronicles count?

wvpr: Halo 1 and 2 both had significant backlash behind their huge success. A large number of people had the same complaints.
Forgot to properly read the first post so I guess those would be the worst highly critically acclaimed games in my case.

No need to delete, just letting you know you didn't need to worry too much about defending viewpoint.
I'm not able and willing to compare the metascores of every single game I ever played, but one of the worst and lowest rated I remember is Kreed. It was promoted as a "Doom 3 Killer" back then. Actually I haven't really enjoyed Doom 3, but Kreed was so much worse, it made Doom 3 feel like a heavenly pleasure.

Oh, and not to forget Counter Strike: Condition Zero. This game was so bad, I don't even consider it as a game. More like a digital accident.

edit: And yes, I finished them both. Don't ask me why.

CymTyr: Pro Wrestling on the old NES. I think it didn't even play a song, it just flashed "Congratulations!" and went back to the title screen.

Fever_Discordia: Ooh - someone should do a 'most dissapointing ending' thread at some point, if it hasn't been done already/...
Hey, that's a good idea. Think I'll do that.

Worst piece of shit you will ever play. EVER.

yavornn: Have played too many games over the years so I can't list them all. :P But here's some I
like:

Alone in the Dark 1-3, Beneath A Still Sky, Broken Sword series, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Command & Conquer all games, Divine Divinity, Dune 1-2, Final Fantasy 6-7-8-10-Crisis Core, Hexen games, God of War series, Legacy of Kain series, Prince of Persia all games from classic to modern, Resident Evil 1-5, Silent Hill 2-3-Shattered Memories, Syberia games, The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past-Ocarina of Time-Twilight Princess, The Longest Journey, Tomb Raider all games...

All right, I've already listed too many games I love, can't list them all really, would be too long. Anyway, I hope you got some idea of what I like. :)

wvpr: You like Syberia but not Monkey Island......I'll back away slowly.

You're from Bulgaria, maybe something in MI is lost to a non-native English speaker? But no rule everyone has to like everything.
First of all, I understood MI2 completely. It wasn't the story I disliked. It was the horrendous gameplay which features some of the most atrocious puzzles ever to grace an adventure game.

And by the way, don't judge a person based on their location. It's plain bad manners. Many Americans don't know English well enough to write correctly in it, let alone appreciate MI2's supposedly great story (mostly humour).

And finally, Syberia shouldn't even be mentioned when talking about MI2. The latter is all about humour, and nothing else. It's got a ton of unsatisfying gameplay, if that's your cup of tea. Syberia, on the other hand, is a complete experience. Atmosphere, story, gameplay, music. All of these elements are combined to create something that MI2 will never have.

Not trying to judge you. I could tell from your first post that whatever your background is, your English is far above average.

Sometimes there are subtle cultural differences that can get lost in translation, even if the audience is doing the translation themselves in a language they have mastered. A lot of Ceville falls flat for me, not because the English or the jokes are terrible, but because the translation doesn't have the extra kick I'd expect from a talented native author. That's all I was getting at.

The rest is just a difference in taste. Nothing wrong with that. I thought Syberia was horrendously designed to maximize time spent walking slowly between locations, with a lack of story depth and poor voice direction in the English version. But at the same time, I can see why it remains popular.
I have no idea about lowest critically rated, but I did play ARES Extinction Agenda through to the end and hated it the entire way. Not entirely sure why I bothered to finish it. I guess since it was so short, I felt like I was challenging myself to see such a shoddy game through to the end.
