I don't remember any absolute stinkers, I guess I'm not that masochistic then. I can think of a few titles with only average scores on mobygames, most of them aren't even on metacritic, e.g. "Stupid Invaders", "Voodoo Kid", "Chewy: Esc from F5", "Lost Eden" (did I really finish it? that's so long ago), or "Rage of Mages" 1 & 2 (I really liked these two despite the average reviews).

The worst game I ever wanted to play through, but never got the chance to (beyond the demo) would be "Meat Puppet". :D
Matrix path of neo and Spider man 3, path of neo was the BEST movie based game of all time and (other than spider man 2) got a 9.0 in my opinion
Pound of Ground, ladies and gentlemen. Pound of Ground. I wish MST3K had branched out to video game commentaries.

I played the demo and thought it was okay, just nothing I would ever devote time to. Is it really bad?

hercufles: alpha protocol, i loved it
its a great game. i beat it too and it is definitely one of my favourite games ever.

on topic

hard to say really...
I mean like AP example on top i beat arcanum and bloodlines. I finished campaign for X2.
I guess gunman chronicles was not highly acclaimed, yet I had fun with it.
heart of darkness? it was fun. is it a stinker?

Worst game for me?
I wasn't impressed with Curse of monkey island. it was good game, no doubt. yet it didn't do anything for me. i do not long to replay it at all (yet TLJ, Syberia, Grim Fandango, Dreamfall and few other adventure games i beat... i do want to replay them. especially dreamfall)

i am not completionist. if i get bored with game i will abandon it (like fear or final fantasy 7) and i don't really play shitty games (rated by press) very often as i don't play games often.

So X2 is probably the shittiest game i completed.

Leroux: e.g. "Stupid Invaders"
Stupid Invaders was great! Did it really get panned?
Probably Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - without doubt the shittiest FPS campaign I have ever played. The only real positive thing I can say about it is that I enjoyed listening to some of the NPC banter.

No, not really. Like I said I didn't play through any really bad games. It's just one of the games I played through that I feel a bit lukewarm towards and the mobygames score of which isn't as high as the real "Good Old Games". To tell the truth, I hardly ever read game reviews at the time I played it, so I couldn't say if it got any bad reviews. I guess it's more a personal thing; but none of the games I listed are really terrible, they're just at the lower end of my "charts" of finished games (except for the "Rage of Mages" titles, for those it's more of an "other people might not find them as enjoyable as I did" statement).

I finished it, so it wasn't dismally bad.

It was poorly optimized. The voice acting was so bad it went past "terrible" right back around to "This is funny! Did they do this on purpose?" The plot is...is...well, there is one. Actually. And it too is a spoof, but of the overseas knockoffs of American horror movies, so it's a spoof of an unintentional spoof. As for the gameplay itself, it had good driving mechanics, mediocre shooting mechanics, and a baseball-bat-smacking mechanic that was oddly addictive. It's worth five bucks, certainly, but no more.
Western Outlaws: Dead or Alive.

Can't believe i finished that game.
The first games that come to mind had fairly mixed reviews. I managed to play through the retail Xbox version of Advent Rising and loved it. Reviews of that game have gone up since the patched PC version became more widely played, though.

Probably the worst would have to be Johnny Mnemonic. It's hard to find critical reviews, but it's pretty notorious for being bad. I rather enjoyed it, though. It's an interesting adaptation of the film, and each scene has a particular button sequence to figure out not unlike Dragon's Lair. But the game has a really jerky presentation and terribly campy acting; Johnny seems to be channeling Michael Keaton at times.
Going on Metacritic, Serious Sam HD. I loved that game, guess the critics just have bad taste.

The game I thought was the worst that I played to completion was Final Fantasy 10. Absolutely loved Tactics, 7, and 9 but 10 was pretty much the reason I stopped playing Final Fantasy and JRPGs shortly after. The plot of the game boils down to Tidus whining about daddy problems backed by a bunch of terrible voice acting (the 'laugh' scene, enough said).

I think it's just because it's a rerelease. The original Serious Sam games (that this is a remake of) got good reviews.
I played through all the (five) levels in Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing and had tons of fun doing so, does that count as finishing it? :p
I generally only play crappy games. If I'm playing it, watch out. And if it's a good game, I'm probably playing it wrong. :D But seriously, I LOVE crappy games. I like some well-made ones, too. But the real treasures are in the poo.

Some previously mentioned examples:

Titanium: Swat 2
When I first got this game, I was almost embarrassed. It was a gift and the game sucked. Bad. Until I got a few hours of play time. You have to learn SWAT protocol or you'll hate this game. Once you know it, it's a freaking blast. You're able to do tactical stuff in this game that you just can't do in many other games. It reminded me of a more structured Syndicate.

hercufles: Alpha Protocol
This is one of my favorite games of all time. It had bugs, yes. It had frustrations, yes. But it was unique in its implementation of RPG and shooter aspects. And I fell in love with the characters and their rough situations.

Titanium: Braveheart!
I never finished this one due to a game-breaking bug that kept me from getting too far, but it was a really good strategy game. To date, I haven't seen a game with as many resources that you had to work with. This game had maybe 30 or 40 different resources and you didn't need all of them. Food, sure. Wood, somewhat. But as you played with the resources, you really structured your army. You could divert resources to horses, but then you'd have just a few guys on horses and not a hundred naked maniacs ready to kill some English.

And the elements where you could sneak into camps and commit arson or burglary like an RPG was awesome.

I wish that they would have finished this game.

Titanium: Might and Magic 8
Bought it for $50. One of the only games I've ever done that for. And it was awesome. Towards the last 1/4 of the game, it gives you that feeling that you can finish the game that night. So you play into the wee hours, sleep little, go to school, come back and play into the wee hours, and then go to school and then play into the wee hours and then win. That's the definition of a good game to me.

More for me:

Hardwar (didn't actually get ot the full end, but close enough -- I'm working through it again to see if I can make it off that cursed moon)
- This game sucked so bad that EB Games was selling it for one cent. Literally. They wanted it off their shelf. I played and loved. And then a decade later wanted to play again and discovered that people ended up loving the game 3 or 4 years after it came out. So I got patches and have it installed right now.

Mount and Blade (again, I didn't own every town, but I got to a good "ending")
- I got this at Gamestop. I was contemplating getting it for a week. It's price went from $15 to $5, so I got it. The guy at the register laughed at me -- literallly -- and said that the game was horrible. I still got it after seeing things online and it's still one of my favorites.

Gauntlet Legacy
- I lived in a house with 3 other guys. This game was perfect. We all played and had a blast.

Darkstone
- One of my favorites action RPGs. I played it through with a friend probably 3 or 4 or 5 times. It's awesome to play with someone else. And you can occasionally duel to see who's the awesomest. The wizard's spells, the witch's werewolf ability and the ability to steal an egg from a chicken are some highlights. If this game was on GOG, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
