ovoon: just rented it...
I'm now at the farm in the underground lab with the crystals. You get infinite veil juice just standing there and no monsters to bug you, so i'm sitting there for 2 hours, it's an easy way to get the achievement :P

well that sounds very exciting :)
bet you feel the adrenaline rushing through your veins.
i always liked the wolfenstein games so i might buying this one aswell.
RTCW was a real treat.
This game is very very mediocre. It's "Call of duty 2 with monsters and some powers". The game compass, the guns, the battle...all is like COD2. Even the graphics. I don't care of graphics at all but this game it's totally outdated.
Yeah, in a mission, you get a map and you free to roam, but any resemblance with Deus Ex is pure coincidence. ¿Rpg? that make me laugh during an hour. You can upgrade your guns, and that's all...
I don't think it's a bad bad game, but doesn't have anything to do with the original RTCW.

there goes my appetite for the game then. Why is it common practise to ruin good franchises.
How's the Objective multiplayer? Is it as good as the old RTCW?

Judging by how butthurt the "OMG HARDCORE FANS" (as they label themselves as) on the official forums are, the multiplayer isn't that good apparently. Can't say for sure, as I haven't even tried the game yet.

Like I said before, it's The Darkness, with side quests and upgrades that sort of resemble an RPG. Also, the game looks great. You're forgetting that Doom 3 still looks amazing, and the engine has been heavily modified to make it look better.
The game is a sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which means it has something to do with that game. While the multiplayer isn't anything special, the singleplayer is very, very fun. "Call of Duty 2 with some monsters" is underselling it to the extreme.
For me, the graphics are ok, i only saying they're outdate, no more no less.
The game still looks mediocre to me. But i puntualize: simply i don't like games like COD4, Gears of War, etc...i know that every new game can't be System Shock 2, Deus Ex or Vampire, but the actual FPS looks very similar to each others. And this Wolfenstein do.
¿A bad game? Not at all. ¿Something different from usual? Not ar all. That's only my opinion, i think that looks like COD series too much.
PD: i download the game simply cause there's no demo. I play two levels and now it's unnistalled. Here in Spain will cost 60€ (more than 80$), that's too much too buy without playing it a bit first (although there's something i don'l usually do and i don't like)

Wow, well I gotta say... It's nowhere near that bad. Whats wrong with the graphics? The lighting looks great, and I actually like the graphics. The gameplay may just be Cod 2, but it's got a couple twists to it. Have you played The Darkness? This is just like it, except your not a suicidal mobster going through hell...
I got it last night on PC (surprised to see so many people on a PC gaming site playing it on console).
The game is pretty fun... it is basically Quake 4, a singleplayer focused and simple sequel to a previous game that was more innovative. If you liked Quake 4, or simple singleplayer FPS games, you will like Wolfenstein. Just don't expect Crysis or Half-Life 2.
The "consolization" is dissapointing. Not many visual settings and the game looks pretty old... not bad, at some times even impressive, but old. The manual only talks about the 360 controller, which is ridiculous, and even though id Tech4 has had AA before, many times, this game is so far not offering it. I'm sure someone will figure out how to force it at some point.
There is a patch already, 1.1, but it seems to be sketchy at best. It says it enables a crosshair menu, but for the life of me I cannot find it, and the standard crosshair is terrible.
I played some of it. It's really cool. The story is along the same vein as the original game where you're BJ stealing artifacts from the Nazi's. I'm glad they returned to the core base of Wolfenstein.
It also has a talisman in it like Undying where it allows you to solve puzzles that wouldn't work in a regular game. I can't wait to play the rest.
I've only experienced one annoying thing thus far. I tend to walk around in Veil mode ALOT. It shows where tomes are and even with the geists attacking once in awhile, I tend to think its better than the normal mode. Of course, the time I usually switch out of it is when I'm standing in a veil wall :/ Instagib.
I think it's an awesome shooter though. Very fast paced action and the crazy batshit Wolfenstein story we all know and love. I'm thinking however that alot of younger fans who only play CoD will hate it since its not "realistic".

I played it on this monster rig at QuakeCon, and when I was about to get it for PC I realized that it wasn't on Steam and my system may not be up to snuff, so I just took the easy route and bought it for PS3.

If that franchise ruin will bait more customers = MOAR MONEY = good idea (for the developer)
I don't get why people are criticizing the new Wolfenstein for not being like RtCW. A new Wolf game comes out every 7-9 years. Technology evolves, more gameplay mechanics emerge, and the tastes of gamers change. RtCW has little, gameplay-wise, in common with Wolf3D. Do I lambaste it for that? No. Will I lambaste the new Wolf for not having much in common with RtCW? No. At least, not until I have actually played it.
Saying the new Wolfenstein is bad for not copying RtCW is like saying RtCW is bad for not copying Wolf3D or SoD. It doesn't make sense.
Having played it another couple hours today I am now feeling that it is GREAT!
Singleplayer I mean.
The action is id-paced, the veil is cool and the game is open-ended with side missions and such. The mouse controls are excellent, despite other aspects of consolization creeping in it played rock solid with KB&M, the only way to play an FPS as far as I am concerned.
Very happy now that I have gotten a ways into the game.
