Curiosity. personally, I've eaten some pretty nasty things since I've gotten to China. I think intestine and silk worm pupa are the worst.

jefequeso: Because I found the series interesting. If you don't like the web-series. Then don't watch it. Simple.

hedwards: Did you try out the Millennium Egg or Century Egg while you were at China?

I haven't had that yet. But, I'm sure it's good. For the most part it's simply a matter of putting it in your mouth. Once it's in your mouth, you might as well swallow.

I remember duck brain and fish head were a bit hard to eat, but largely because I was slurping them out of the skull.

On the whole though, I've found a lot of these delicacies to be less enjoyable than I would have thought. The main exceptions being scorpion and king spider, both of which are delicious.

To date I haven't had anything make me sick.
The worse things to eat I heard about were:

- human fetus soup in China
- living monkey brain eaten from living monkey's head
- live octopus (you have to watch out because it may suck in to your throat)

You really weren't supposed to take that remark seriously. It was me trying to be funny, and failing :P

Ive heard it's because the brain starts to rot pretty quickly, so it has to be served directly from the monkey's head while it's fresh.

A friend of mine went to visit his grandma who was living in Taiwan. They went to this one restaurant, and apparently they served monkey brains. He didn't dare eat it, but he observed the whole process and described it to the rest of us. Basically, they cage up the monkey, then inject anesthetic to the animal, after which they saw off the top of the skull and pour boiling water on to the exposed brain.

You can convince me to eat anything, even fried insects, but monkey brains...

I'll ask my bro's Chinese tutor, she knows better than I do.

I didn't provide you with a direct link, because some images may be.. well... disturbing.

Some people say it's a hoax, though.

The century egg actually tastes okay, most of the smell comes from the yoke while the egg white is tasteless and has the texture of jelly.
thanks for the link, I like watching people eat funny stuff that i would never dare try
