Interesting, I don't give a flying rat's behind that Neal Stephenson is involved but the concept is very interesting.
Building a framework for semi-realistic swordfighting is something that I think could work. Just like games using Havok for physics for example, they could use Clang for sword fighting.
Definitely keeping an eye on this one.

Dizzard: The Crystal Catacombs:

There's another project called Hexit:

but personally I don't really like the character models, particularly of the main character. She looks like a mannequin with no personality. Still I guess there are people who might like this, so I'm giving it a mention here.
Had a look at it myself - your right. Hardly any facial expression and feels bit lifeless. IMHO boobs could do with some work :P.. but thats an aside ;)

HypersomniacLive: Curse of Shadow House has reached its funding goal and has announced three stretch goals:
1. $10K - Porting to PC.
2. $11K - Porting to Mac.
3. $12K - Porting to Linux.

Only 24 hours left, so, anyone interested in these platforms, do your part :-)
Wow they actually met their goal. I didn't think they would. Good job to them!
Added Clang.

Looks like Lodestar: Stygian Skies is not going to make it. Shame for the great sounding idea and intriguing story pieces.

Whoah. Mount&Blade with better off-horse fighting mechanics? I'm in!

On the sidenote, Treyarch should get off their asses and make Die by the Sword 2 with this technology. Being hung upside down on a rope and fighting orcs and kobolds with Clang's mechanics would be so badass.

DBTS was the first thing I thought of as well.. although it's the first thing I think of every time I read/hear about something like this. The second thing is of course lightsabers.
It is really something for a pretty specific type of game, but if they had the proper framework/SDK and peripheral I can definitely see them earning a nice income from it.
Probably not enough to get everybody a private jet, but a nice steady revenue stream.

I will definitely not be giving any money to this.
Women in a fantasy medium are not realistic? OH MY CTHULHU!
The men aren't very realistic either, but most people play games to get away from reality.

lowyhong: Cult looks pretty neat, but it's really expensive ($25).
$15 actually.

I think her complaint isn't that women in games are portrayed unrealistically. It's more that they are often portrayed horribly.
Well, Xenonauts managed to finish off well at over $150K.

A few more KS boardgames to consider:
The Duke (Jul 1)
Urbanization (Jul 6)
Pirate Dice: Voyage on the Rolling Seas (Jul 27)

and possibly one of interest to military buffs:

War Coins (Jul 11)

Malleus: Ground Branch - I'll let the kickstarter page do the explanation, but it's a tactical shooter project by a former Red Storm developer, already in development since 2007 or so.

I've posted about GB before and now I've created a thread, but nobody seems to give a shit about it, sadly... It's kinda funny because people say they are tired the ways this industry is moving on to, fps games for example; but when they have the chance to change it, they don't.

This game falls into a fairly niche area though doesn't it? Plus if i recall when i saw it last it was pretty much MP only.....:/
