Yeah, there are a couple issues with the Inherit the Earth 2 kickstarter.
1) No trailer that shows the gameplay, art style, or personality of the game.
2) Among the reward tiers, they are not selling the original Inherit the Earth.
3) They haven't distributed the original through Steam, GOG, or any other popular channel. This is very bad, because no one has heard of the game.
4) The goal is far too ambitious. They should aim for something more reasonable like $20,000 or so, then have stretch goals.
I am really doubting the kickstarter now, because they seem to lack the basics needed to help make the game a reality. Looking now at the page, there is only 33 backers. That is very significant, because it shows that Wyrmkeep has failed to capture the attention of anyone who isn't familiar with the original game. I want to like Inherit the Earth 2, but the kickstarter doesn't excite me.
