With crowd sourcing the rules change a little; you've got to have investment capital initially or at least the capacity to advertise your product extensively to the market. I also suspect that the time of year has a lot to do with things (I would suspect expecting more failed or rocky ground fundraisers over the next month or two as Christmas drains peoples pockets).
But it is pretty much the kickstarter site has changed the way you advertise and you can't just sit and wait. You really have to know how to market.
Very surprised that he hasn't finished the successful project before starting another with barely any announcement in any media. Plus it is misleading to call it a point and click adventure game when it has turn based RPG combat.
