Yeah thanks for all the efforts maintaining this thread mate :)
Hmmm whats with the sudden rash of space sim type games?. Before it was rpg's and adventures.. what comes next? lol

Best ways to keep track of all the final completion/release dates of projects if one has backed a lot? KS doesn't make it easy...(any suggestions?)
avatar
AstralWanderer: Me too. Though there are single-player projects out there (go, Nexus 2, go!) and Chris Taylor fans have a choice of Chris Taylors to worship. :)

Edit: Another single-player is finishing tomorrow - it's made funding so it's now about the stretch goals...

Zoltan999: Yeah, I backed MORE..looking forward to that one. I already backed Star Citizen. Hoping the SP campaign is at least somewhat as fun as Freeelancer's was. Who knows, if SC is as good as Chris plans to make it, maybe I will actually give the MP a try. Have you checked out Strike Suit Zero? [url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/43153532/strike-suit-zero]http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/43153532/strike-suit-zero This is one other that looks to be doing well, and I backed. As lowyhong stated in an earlier thread, this would be a nice one to see come to GOG.

edit: incidentally, just realized that I also backed Chris Taylor's Arakion you pointed out..think that's gonna be a real good one for Grimrock lovers.

lowyhong: Anybody want to post a thread on Distance? I feel awkward seeing so many threads started by me on the first few pages.

Zoltan999: That's crazy bro, I think it's awesome that your puttin out lots of good info for ppls to check out :D
a mecha based game!!..awesome!.. backed!
avatar
AstralWanderer: Hmm...while there is a SP campaign, it seems to serve more as an introduction/tutorial to the MP world, according to both the KS page and design document - my reading is that if you aren't into MP, you'll only experience a fraction of the game.
avatar
Zoltan999: Yeah, that seems to be the case doesn't it? That for sure bums me out a bit :(
Oh poo. I dislike those games where SP serves as a tutorial. All potatoes and no meat :/

A better comparison for Squadron 42 would be Starlancer / Wing Commander : military story-driven campaign.

Star Citizen is indeed aiming for a Freelancer / Privateer MMO.
I've never played a MMO in my life but I would if Star Citizen could achieve at least half its promises.

AstralWanderer: Edit: Another single-player M.O.R.E. is finishing tomorrow - it's made funding so it's now about the stretch goals...
$23,000 to go until Single Player Campaign and only 22 hours left.
That will be a close one...

And that's official : FleetCOMM is back for another run.
But this time there's a $50,000 goal.

I asked Slade Villena about a DRM free version and this time it's OK :
Mercenary Games
Sunday Oct 21, 2:12am CEST

Of course we'll be DRM free! lol.
@Astral Wanderer : that's an unexpected move, isn't it ? :D

I agree, yeppers, he has even made several references to Wing Commander in his many interviews. Either way, looking at the most recent update, and the video showing the individual thusters and "fly by wire" mechanics of ship control, looks simply awesome. Kinda looks like you'll be flying a "Harriet" type space ship, with Newtonian Physics...how cool is that? This may be the first game to pull me into MP online..we'll see, lol.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on MORE also, hoping to see a bunch more peeps joining on, or many of the very lower tier folks upping their pledge a little to make more stretch goals. Looks like this is gonna be a another good time waster also (just what I need :-P)

Thanks :)

For the record, the M.O.R.E. team plans to put up an Indiegogo campaign too, so you can always pledge more later.

lowyhong, you do a great job keeping the OP updated. Kudos to you, good sir (or madam).
Thanks!

Putting this here first in case I forget to add later.

Looks gorgeous, but I'll probably stay out - I'm never going to have time to play it along with all the other stuff I've pledged to.

I'm gobsmacked - did someone hit him over the head recently? :)

However he has some gall saying : "Tired of having to buy a game over and over again? Mercenary Games would like to offer you a simpler gaming investment. " when this is his second KS and third crowdfunding campaign for the same game. I'll give this a miss - not least since I've got Skyjacker and Kinetic Void to look forward too.

lowyhong: Dude I'm not going through this list, so I'll leave it up to you to pick out the best of the lot and recommend them to me.
*cringes*
OK, the three I'd single out would be , [url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/327124867/aldarok-games/]Aldarok (probably more for its artwork) and Mercenary Dark.

And thanks again for keeping this thread up-to-date - despite all the money it's costing us!

PS: backers may want to check out the forum if they've not already done so - lots of info like the [url=http://www.malevolencegame.com/forum/threads/i-found-a-thing.83/]I found a thing! thread.

As I told him, $50,000 will be a tough run. I'm not sure the 467 backers from the first run will invest more on FleetCOMM. We'll see...

Is there some news about Skyjacker ? I saw some Digitilus comments on Divine Space KS but nothing about their own game.
It is 1939, a war is showing up as a possibility in Europe, and the U.K. goverment decides to organise its most intelligent people in an operation that was so secret that it only was revealed decades later and even today most people don't know about it.

This is the real-life story of what gave inspiriation to the James Bond novels, of what made the very PC, laptop, tablet or whatever you use possible.

It is the story of Alan Turing and eight thousand other people saving the world, and of what happened to their workplace afterwards.

Without them, the invasion at the Normandy never might have happened, Hitler might have stretched on the war for a few more years and completed his genocide in Europe. And then the Russians might have raped every woman they find, conquering Europe, ultimately - in the Cold War Crisis - culminating in the end of the world. Although this fictional scenario is not described in the book. :-)

Last piece of news I heard from them was that they closed off the crowdfunding campaign on their website. Looks like they're going full speed ahead soon, cap'n.
