McDon: I like the 2 for 1 approach. If you read about it it's well done I think. Each of the two designers design a game each (so it'd be different approaches) and what do in one game will effect the other (multiple beginnings I think is one). Pity multiple beginnings is a goal cause it's the main thing about the game that stands out for me because it's original.
Indeed, that's an interesting concept. But it's unclear how they plan to do this. If there is a plan... Maybe they're just throwing ideas at the moment.

nijuu: Well I cant be sure but maybe adventure fans are really stuck for quality new good adventure games?
I don't know, maybe the "new" part makes the difference.
There has been a lot of adventure projects on Kickstarter and the 2 most funded ( Double Fine's and Homestuck ) were not sequels.
Quite frankly I thought Broken Sword5 would have reached $1.0M when they added BaSS2 as a stretch goal, but they never got this high.

An Old-School RPG update #2: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lootdrop/an-old-school-rpg-by-brenda-brathwaite-and-tom-hal/posts/322220, with the first details about the story and the settings of both games.

Looks interesting
Arakion update: A brief history of the making of Arakion. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/posts/322252?ref=activity

In addition, there'll be three updates tomorrow: detailing the Battlemage, introducing new Arakion team members, and another voice update. Only $600 to hit the Infinite Tower! Overall I'm pretty impressed with Arakion's progress. It was slow going for the vast majority of the campaign, but all of a sudden over the last week it's suddenly picked up a lot of steam.

EDIT: Also, I'm really looking forward to the OST release, the sample tracks sound great. Where are these indie developers getting their awesome composers? (See also: Expeditions Conquitador)

ArchonPC: Their project is strongly inspired ( copy/paste ) from Project Eternity. Obsidian got 25,000 early birds, so they certainly thought they could get 15,000 for themselves.

The "2 games for 1 kickstarter" at $1.9M is quite original though.

Homestuck reached $2,485,456 with "only" 24,344 backers. I'm always surprised how adventure fans can pay more than RPG fans....

nijuu: Yes. Their kickstarter page has bits and pieces which are vaguely similar to Project Eternity.First thing i noticed. Not sure of the 2 for 1 rpg...sounds kinda tacky imho.

They're going to let you take characters from one game to the other. Which is sort of an interesting idea as it doesn't sound like the extra game is going to be a sequel. I don't think I've seen that before. I know a small number of games do let you take a character from one game to the next, but those are sequels.
I'm glad to hear about the Loot Drop project. When I've heard about the foundation of the studio, I've contacted the developers to told them that a single player classic rpg would have been a good idea. Brenda Brathwaite's experience and Tom Hall's creativity provide a lot of potential.
Arakion was on the verge of that Infinite Tower stretch so I just upped my pledge to push it there.

Now get coding Mr Taylor!! :)

In this case I think it's less about being an adventure game and more to do with being Homestuck. I'm looking forward to this. I'm glad that the game is scheduled for 2014 to avoid interfering with Homestuck proper.
Will Arakion be the next Grimrock? Will Chris eventually receive the official designation as that other Chris Taylor who isn't that other Chris Taylor? Only time will tell :P

I hope so, this game has a lot of interesting ideas.

Maybe he'll use his KS proceeds to hire the other Chris Taylors so that he can call himself the Chris Taylor of the Chris Taylors. :)

Edit: Seems like the Finnish police have a problem with crowdfunding, threatening legal action (under the Finnish Money Collection Act) against one KS project and a Finnish musician. Do they not have more important things to be getting on with, like breathalysing elks?

Damn I missed the Swedish lessons Kickstarter. I've always wanted to learn Swedish.

You'd have had to have learnt Finnish first though, i.e. you start with Finnish, har de har!

If Loot Drop can do this, they will surely gain some renown ( real one, not The Banner Saga : Factions currency ).

Well, Homestuck have a wealthier fanbase than Obsidian it seems.

Since Brenda Braithwaite's (sorry if I'm wrong) project on kickstarter is being talked about. Why no Wizardry game on gog.com? Thye'd fit in perfectly with the other CRPGs here.
