Braille Roleplaying Dice. Nice initiative, I'm surprised these don't already exist (or I haven't seen them in any game story I've been to): http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/592087154/braille-dice?ref=category
And here's a card game created by an 8-year old. :) http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1395306345/games-save-the-world?ref=category
Oy vey... I thought/hoped at least Revolution of the adventure-focused devs could live without crowd-funding. I was hoping to part ways with Kickstarter for a little longer...

Hicks233: Bit of an oddity here. A musical point and click adventure. The creators done some really nice little titles so it's worth a look.

Was a bit surprised to see the direction that it's gone in but hey... if people are interested then it's good to get it a bit more coverage.

There's a little playable demo out now (mostly dialogue and some interaction). It's definitely up my off-beat alley, hope she can make it:

IDK if I should add that to our prestigious list, since the board games list is getting to be quite long. On one hand, it's an "Awww" kind of thing. I applaud children who are enterprising. And yet, it looks like the kind of game I can get at a stationery shop for SGD5 (~USD3). $15 for a rock paper scissors card game is expensive.

That's kind of insane and awesome. :D I'll probably buy in at the 10 dollar range for the soundtrack, don't have much more I can give between preordering Wasteland 2, DFA, and Conquistador. Hope it makes its funding.

The creator is an entitled asshole though.
[A] big part of the cost was the intention to own the fabrication equipment, which even for low rate mass production can be quite expensive, accounting for nearly 80% of the target amount.
(...)
And there is some disgust factor whinging around for me as well. While this project struggles to reach $11,000 to do something for the good of the gaming community at large, Paizo and Reaper managed to reap more than $1.5 million for a miniatures project. Are so many of us really that selfish?
(...)
if every reader of those posts across the internet had donated a mere 38 cents, the goal would have been met. That means for every person backing this project, 264 didn't. Incidentally, shame is a valid fundraising strategy in a number of communities. :P
Reminds me of some idiot going "bawwww, [expletive] Double Fine got 3M, people are [expletive] who don't appreciate true art".

Six-sided dice for the visually impaired exist, both those that are marketed as such, and just dice with huge pips.

Rolling physical dice is slow. Ever played with a newb who couldn't tell a d12 from a d20 and started counting sides upon being told to roll something? Now imagine how dice-rolling might be for a visually-impaired person.

Find the necessary die. Throw it. Then find it (possibly among several dice that you didn't throw which are lying on the table). Then figure out what number rolled, without accidentally turning it over in your hand (which was the top side again?)

TL;DR: one does not simply walk into Mordor. It's much easier to play with a random number generator, or have other people roll the dice for you.

Unless everyone is visually impaired. In which case you're probably not playing D&D, because that game has demanded an effing GRID for the last four editions (3.0, 3.5, 4, ess) and strongly emphasized 2d positioning in the previous ones.

Now, I'm not opposed to visually impaired people playing with Braille dice. But her attitude is just wrong. The market is small. Deal with it. If I wanted specialty dice, I'd just order some on Shapeways.

Starmaker: WTF is happening with international shipping recently? Did USPS raise fees or what? Another dude wants $35 for Canada and Mexico and holy shit $50 international to ship a card game.
My copy of Road to Enlightenment (KS boardgame) cost $47 shipping in a USPS Medium Box, though that was sent Priority Air (due to a previous snafu over incomplete customs forms that resulted in them being returned to sender).

So it can cost, but for a card game that should mean a helluva lot of cards - or great big ones. :)

Another film for the list, The Gamers: Hands of Fate (Sep 8).

On the gaming side, we have:
Cypress Inheritance Video Game (Sep 28) released for mobile first, then PC
Tales of Illyria- A unique rpg (Sep 20)

More boardgames anyone?
Dr. Moorehead's Fun Box! (Oct 19) this is just...weird.

Finally a quick plug for Auravym which closes this Saturday ($4,786 currently raised of $7,000). Some nice artwork has been posted in the updates.

Have a feeling Cypress won't make its goal for 2 reasons: 1. The video they posted is short, unimpressive, and doesn't really say anything and 2. You have to kick in 35 bucks to get a copy of the game, which is a hard sell when the average is 15 bucks and your video is not very compelling.. That said, it seems like it has potential and I will keep an eye on it.
Tales of Illyria seems interesting, although the concept of a fantasy RPG Oregon Trail is more baffling than intriguing for me. >.> Another one to keep an eye on though, as it could also shape up to be pretty unique.
Auravym sounded intriguing, but seeing that it's RPGMaker significantly decreases my enthusiasm, as I don't really like the style that comes with RPGMaker games. It especially seems like a waste to me, as they've got some really nice concept art.

So I guess I'm very ambivalent right now. :)

EDIT: Btw, is there some sort of external Kickstarted browsing website? Because Kickstarter's setup makes it weirdly hard to just browse.

Try KickTraq (recommended in the first post BTW) - a far better way to browse KS.

Missed it in the first post, thanks for the link. :)
thanks for the heads up re: Broken Sword. good to see, although i personally don't particularly like the 3d characters. but at least the game is 2d. :)
Quick clarification question about IndieGoGo: I recall reading somewhere that the main reason IndieGoGo is different than Kickstarter is that as soon as you kick in the money goes to the project, instead of only at the end if it's fully funded like Kickstarter. However, IndieGoGo also has more Kickstarter-like Fixed Funding projects which, like Kickstarter, are an all-or-nothing thing where they completely fail if they don't reach the goal in time. Do these also subtract the money immediately from your account, or do they wait until it's fully funded like Kickstarter?

EDIT: Also, here's another RPG: Dies Irae: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/677634663/dies-irae-phantatiom-elements/?ref=kicktraq It's another RPGMaker one, but I'm a bit more forgiving because the combat looks nicer than Auravym (I find the horizontal sideways look a bit more stylish and visually interesting than the superdeformed isometric look).
