HyperKraenk: Project Giana!

"Project Giana is the grandchild of The Great Giana Sisters, a Super Mario Bros clone made by the now-deceased founder of our company in the eighties. Of course, Nintendo didn’t like that, and the sisters got pulled off the shelves. That’s ancient history now, and, in an ironic twist, a legit Giana game was released for the DS in 2009. That was a pretty awesome move from Nintendo, and we’re grateful!

Project Giana derives its name from our protagonist, a little girl stuck in a dream world. The “Project” part is a placeholder – the final title will be determined during the final stage of our kickstarter, and will take your feedback into account. Our game will initially be released on PC, with later releases on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

So… why does this new project exist? For Giana’s twenty-fifth anniversary, we wanted to do something of our own, with full creative control and no “dumbing down”. Publishers tend to avoid titles they can’t groom for risk and profit, which is fair enough for a business, so we had to finance Giana ourselves.

We’ve stuck to the classic core gameplay, but we’ve also expanded it with something new. Don’t worry – it’s not a random idea out of the blue, but builds on the central theme of our heroine transforming from “cutie” to “punky” within a dream world. You can now switch between both forms at will – any time, anywhere, and each form has its own abilities."

I think it is pretty awesome! :)
Have already backed it :)

But why that project not already have reached its goal, is beyond me. Alot needs to happen for this go get to the $250k mark (more game content).

The game looks very splendid, and sound is epic, although the creators got quite some gameplay inspiration from a certain hedgehog.
Holy guacamole, they already got $250,000.

It's a promising game, thanks for sharing. I just think beyond $500,000 is being too, too ambitious. Other games failed already by this.

I hope this makes it. I am such a huge freaking fan of Total Annihilation.

I can't say I'm a huge fan, I still gotta replay TA with my current mindset, compared to what I had back in the day when I played it... I guess I will like TA more now. Need moar times. :(

The team behind this is cool, is the kind of team I would like to support. The culture of it.

Spore+TA would be cool, and if this game were more biological/procedural it would be awesomesauce.
Poor old GOG. Pro Pinball is fishing in Kickstarter waters to fund an HD update to their classic four tables. At least one new table is planned, designed by Pat Lawlor (Addam's Family).

If the updates are released on GOG, that would seem to be a win all round.

Now for a few more projects - wonder if they'll make it to the list? ;)
PC:
Fortis Rex: Rise Of The King (Sep 15)
Pray For Dark (Oct 14) *with some "unique" pledge rewards - your name on a brick or sewer slime juice anyone?*

Boardgames:
DungeonCraft: Hero versus Guardian (Sep 17)
Hirelings: The Ascent (Sep 28) *one for Nodwick fans!*
City of Iron (Oct 4)

and finally an exciting art-related KS project! (well, I got excited, probably more so than LowlyHong with Planetary Annihilation...)

Nude Sculptures Made from Molds of Top Runway Models (Sep 9)
Whats with all the +$40 for international shipping lately >.< the +$10 was ok, +$20 pushing it but +$40??

Both looks nice games, but I guess Pray for Dark needs a all-digital pledge option

In 2 cases lately it's... a pack of cards... I've shipped similar packs from the US before (chez geek and munchkin for example) and they only cost me about 12 bucks!

infact in one case I found earlier it was more for postage than the original pledge...

The Eternity Dice KS now offers a Dungeon Map Dice option. The dice themselves are rather too expensive ($11-15 each!) to be used for mapping, but for those interested in random dungeon/passage generation, this could be an interesting option.
More PC game projects:

KickStarter Indie Bundle (Aug 29)
Pinball Arcade: Star Trek The Next Generation (Sep 16)

and boardgames:

The Manhattan Project - Mega Expansion (Sep 1)
Unexploded Cow from Cheapass Games (Sep 14)

plus some cherry-picked (or pickled) RPGs:

Swords & Wizardry: The Actual 1st Edition Roleplaying Rules (Sep 4)
Fate of the Norns: Ragnarok 20th anniversary edition (Sep 17)
Horror on the Orient Express: A Chaosium Publication (Oct 1)
Cthulhu arises, waves his tentacles and empties your wallets - ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

ArchonPC: Did someone already mentioned Northmark : Hour of the Wolf ? ( my pal google doesn't find any match on gog forums :D )

A card-based RPG with some good artwork.
The beta gameplay video looks promising : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IxS8P8Kk5k

Odd. And I saw a game announcement with no mention of Kickstarter at all...

By the way, I don't know if this is interesting to people here, or if it's been mentioned, but I got an update from the failed Conquest 2 Kickstarter stating that the original is coming to GOG. That's good news.

You enjoyed Mount & Blade? You enjoy multiplayer games? You look forward to play War of the Roses?

Then it's your duty to check out Chivalry: Medieval Warfare - like, right now!
I'm serious. Do not dilly-dally, do not push it back, don't put it on your to-do list. Do it NOW.
