One of my friends found this on StumbleUpon: http://babel-research.eu/witb/stream/
Check out the video, and then check out the site itself (http://babel-research.eu/). I'd say this has to be a viral marketing campaign for something new related to the Half-Life universe. Does anyone know anything about it?
Oh yeah the box. Its interesting what this guy did but I don't think this has anything to do with Half Life or Valve. On one of the podcasts I listen to (I think it was one of the 1up network casts) they discussed the box video. They also came to the conclusion that while cool this is not viral marketing but rather a very cool nod to Half Life universe. They also tracked down the owner of the domain and its a guy in (if I remember correctly) one of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden something like that I don't remember exactly) and it is literally a one guy its registered to, not a company and most certainly not Valve. That being said what they talked about on the podcast I mentioned is not facts. So its open to interpretation.
Personally I really liked the video but not really up to the quality of something I would consider a viral marketing campaign. But that's just me.
You're right, a bit more research netted me this: http://www.gamespy.com/articles/964/964493p1.html
So apparently, it's just a fanmade video, but with serious viral marketing campaign elements attached. Damn, I was hoping for something more than that. Apparently though, there's more to come from the perpetrator of this video. Could be a new mod I guess. That's worth hoping for.

If he can apply the same amount of dedication he did to the video to this mod I'm there. He has an idea which is to me personally very fascinating.
Also, LOVE the way he did the HUD in the video.
Still, I think it's a bit superfluous that we now get introduced to YET ANOTHER hitech research company. How many of these does the Half-Life universe need?

May be its a subdivision of black mesa or Aperture? Dunno. I just liked the box. Reminded me a bit of like a high tech version of the puzzle box from Hellraiser. Haha.
old news is old.
it was commissioned by some strange people who apparently did a couple of videos for the mythbusters. I actually hosted that original video on wegame a while back.
While that video may be fake, the question still remains:
What ARE Valve up to these days? Jerking off to their ever-increasing Steam bank balance? L4D has been out for some time, and there's no news on Episode 3 as of yet.

I did hear a rumour Episode 3 was called "Half Life Forever".
Perhaps they are going to appear to rest on their laurels, before announcing their upcoming titles for the next couple of years.
When are the next big trade shows?

I think (a.i. HOPE) we'll see some info about Ep3 pop up on E3 this year.

I'm pretty sure that even though they haven't shown anything yet, they're working on Episode 3.

Fake or not, that video rocked. Even if it just made for the gag, it is very well done!
As for Valve, well, E3 is just around the corner... ;)
Thanks for the link, by the way!
