desperados: yes sure but really there's no fun playing the emulation games on a bulky lcd or crt pc screen it doesn't matter even when you resize it into smaller frames of handhelds...in gp2x games perfectly fits into the screen and you can carry more than 10000 games in your pocket

cogadh: Considering the Metal Slug series you mentioned were originally released on the Neo-Geo AES and MVS systems, they were actually designed to be played on a "bulky" screen and they are plenty of fun. By reducing them to handheld size, you lose a lot of the detail that was originally part of the game (though for some games that probably doesn't matter much). Who cares if GP2X can hold 10000 games, my PC can hold millions of games and I don't get eye strain when I use it.

But Metal Slug came out on PSP (as an anthology), and I had no trouble playing that on my handheld. Thanks to the high-res screen, it retained a lot of the "textures" and the detail that made the game so fun.

desperados: oh yes they should invent a new universal console that can play most of the old console games :( othewise those games will be lost in the black holes of the history

W-wait, console owners have a more-than-5-years-long memory? Oh my, that's really an awesome astonishment to me, lol :-D
Seriously, buy a PC, download some good emulator and enjoy games, because home consoles are the past, PC is and will always be the future :-P

There are plenty of good console games. I grew up on NES and SNES and still have both systems in my basement. However, good luck getting ahold of some of the titles. I'm not advocating software piracy, but emulators and ROMs are really the only way to enjoy some of these now over 20year old games. I'm not trying to start an argument on the ethics of downloading ROMs when you don't own the original games, you can either do it and enjoy the games or not.
On the other hand, GOG is great for me because when I was enjoying all of my console games, I missed out on PC gaming all together and it's nice to find the better PC games of the SNES era and enjoy them now.

Well there are about 3 konsole kiddies who don't drool on themselves and require handholding in order to complete a game. The rest are worker drones for the glorious PC user master race.,....as they should be.
I will take this time to reflect upon Ace Attorney:
Oh Phoenix Wright, Oh Apollo
Your cases were tough
The evidence was nary
Although it was hard when your defendant sang like a canary
You still pulled through, and managed to whip it out
And now we all know what you're about.
Seriously, the Ace Attorney series is one of the best handheld console series evar.
Originally though, it was for PC in Japan.

shylock: First problem: there are no good console games :)

Aliasalpha: HERETIC!
Well okay, person I disagree with a bit really. Plenty of good games on consoles, they're just mostly stuff that appeals more to the instant gratification crowd. I like a good bit of instant gratification in between protracted challenges and bouts of thinking

Yeah there are some good games on consoles. What I wouldn't give to have the MLB The Show series on PC. Best baseball games out there.

That already exists, it's called PC.

Weclock: you can play the entire sega master system catalogue, as well as nes catalogue, snes catalogue, mame catalogue, n64, playstation one, and many other catalogues, all on PC.

OH NO BUT AINT THAT PIRACY??!!!11 OMG!!! LET ME SHIELD MY EYES FROM THIS THREAD!!!
Yeah, and let's not forget the Amiga, Atari, Mega Drive and every other god damned resemblance of console before Gamecube out there. And the packages of games on p2p networks are so complete and well organized that no one has an excuse not to have every console game ever made in a box of DVDs.
