I thought it was about a time to try and stir the pot and get more support from the GOG community for VTMB. Why? Because Grim Fandango got 39,022 votes while we currently only have 13,955. I see the Community wishlist more in the light of a petition. And if we need 3 times what we have now we are never going to see VTMB on GOG anytime soon.

So to people who have played it; one write down what you liked about the game that really distinguishes itself, and two get people over here. Because quite frankly I hate working around Steam on their version and I dislike having to safeguard my hard copies quite so fanatically.

The best feature of VTMB in my opinion is the choices built into the narrative. It rarely felt as if I was being forced to pick from conversation options I wouldn't want, and it did a great job of giving you the feeling of control in the story from these choices.

This game is numer 1 on my GOG release wishlist.

I normally dont buy games when not on sale, but this would be an instabuy for me.

I am wondering whats holding them off...

1. GOG already cooperates with Activision, we have some of their titles here.
2. Troika wouldnt pose a problem either, since we have their other titles.
3. The game is not lost in some sort of a legal limbo, its available on Steam.

Whats the problem then?

The problem is that the game uses Source engine (Valve property), that's just my guess. I hope I'm wrong

4. It was already available DRM-free on DotEmu.

At that time I think GOG still only had their fixed price points of $5.99 and $9.99 for classic games and maybe that was part of the reason why they decided not to release it on GOG, but on DotEmu for a higher price? And then I believe the DotEmu version was unpatched or at least running without any fan patches, which might not be good enough for GOG's quality and compatibility standards, while adding fan patches to the package could prove an issue to?

In any case, in order to understand why it isn't on GOG, it would be interesting to know why Activision removed it from DotEmu instead of renewing the contract.

I just found the disc copy for a fiver in a pawn shop! :D

Oh, it did come. It knocked GOGdoor, but it seems TET was out and Judas (who was on call) was actually gaming and didn't notice. So it went back to limbo, dejected.

I get that alot. If it makes you feel better it has barely a scratch on it! :P

If you wanted it badly, you could easily get it for a fair price. Alas, only with German voiceovers. :(
