It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hello everyone,
I would like to update you on the latest changes to GOG Downloader (the optional app that can be used to download your GOG.com purchases).
We have just released an updated version (0.9.30) which includes three important things:
1. a faster app core (thx to updated Adobe AIR Runtime, and jQuery 1.3.3)
2. updated file resuming, witch will now allow:
- more reliable auto-resuming, witch should fix _some_ of the problems
- auto discovery of incomplete/complete files
3. an option to send bug report to gog.com
If you have the downloader already installed, you will be notified about the update next time you launch the app; if you don't have the app yet, check out the list of downloads in My Account page for any of your purchases)
2. UPDATED APP CORE
While updating our source code, we also updated all libraries involved which should make the whole app a bit faster and less resource hungry.
3. UPDATED FILE RESUMING
This was, and still is, the most important thing about the downloader. We have received numerous reports from our users, that there are issues with this, especially on slower, less reliable, connections.
The real problem with fixing this is actually recreating this situation, to have a peek at what's really causing this. We tried a lot of different setups, we've used faulty network hardware, we used cellphones as modems to access Internet, we tried disconnecting cables on different levels of the connection, we used software to slow the connection down, we tried downloading files to very slow hard drives, but so far we couldn't recreate problems that some of you were experiencing.
So, as the first step, we changed the way that files are handled, discovered, and resumed. It should help with at least some of the problems.
The second thing, was to enable the downloader app to discover files from previous sessions. This means that if you have an incomplete file backed up before the downloader encountered an error, you can copy that incomplete file into download folder, then add the game to the downloader again, and the app will continue from the incomplete file instead of starting at zero. This is hardly a resolution for the problem, but it will at least allow for some temporary workaround, until we get all the issues sorted out.
So if you have problems using the downloader, you can try to:
1. Start the download normally
2. From time to time, make a copy of the temporary files in the GOG Downloader downloads folder to a safe backup location
3. If the downloader encounters an error click "Send report" (more info below), and shut it down
4. Copy your backed up files back into GOG Downloader downloads folder
5. Relaunch the app, and resume the transfer (or add the game again using the website), the transfer should resume at the point of last backup
Please remember, that this is only a temporary workaround as we work on fixing all the real issues.
3. BUG REPORTS
As mentioned before, we are adding an option to submit bug reports straight from the downloader. Every time you encounter an error while using GOG Downloader, you will have an option to "Send report" to us - please click on it, as it is essential for understanding and solving the problems :).
The report includes:
* GOG Downloader application logs (detailed information about file transfers and errors)
* your gog.com user name
Report does NOT include:
* any personal or hardware info (no hardware logs, no apps list, etc)
We will keep these logs as short as possible and we'll be using them only to find & fix bugs in GOG Downloader. After that we will delete them. We won't spam you, won't spy on your system and won't create any stats regarding downloader and it's usage.

firebrand77: I just bought republic: the revolution from this site, the downloader has yet to show the game in the queue and its been over an hour. the refresh button is constantly running but it isnt showing anything, im not sure if its something im doing wrong or if its the downloader. Ive gone over the faqs and reinstalled the downloader but nothing seems to help. if anyone has an idea of what the problem could be please let me know

You bought the game, but have you actually added it to the download queue yet? Remember, the downloader is meant as a SECONDARY option, the main choice is downloading directly through the browser, thus the games are not automatically added to the downloader.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I have added 2 games about 2-3h ago to the download queue and the downloader refuses to see the queued titles. The whole thing started after the downtime, yesterday when I downloaded a separate game everything was going grate.
A secondary problem is with the downloader start. When I run the app it says that an exception had occurred and I should try running it again. It always start after several tries but it gets annoying double clicking its icon so many times :)

I cannot download files. Or rather, I cannot queue them. The Downloader doesn't detect them when I click the queue link on the GOG site.
Further, when I try to download a game directly instead, it just displays a page with the following text:
string(133) <link to my game's download file is here>"
And that's not so bad because I can grab the link and put it into the browser and download through the browser. But clearly something is broken.
My first time buying games on GOG so while I love GOG, my first experience on here hasn't been the best. :p I know there was downtime yesterday - it happened about 10 minutes after I bought my games which sucked.
Anyway I need the Downloader working properly because I have 1.1 and 2.3 GB games to download.

I'd wager this downloading problem is a side effect of the recent maintenance.
Everything should work fine now.
It does. Excellent!

will gog downloaded games work for windows 7?

They already do.
New Adobe Air, http://get.adobe.com/air/ grab it for some increased stability and from my experience faster load times with gog downloader, and i stopped having to reinstall the downloader every time now :).
I'm having connectivity issues at home so I was getting incomplete/corrupted installers for Divine Divinity, tried the GOG Downloader and the download screamed! If it got disconnected, I don't know as it probably resumed downloading without me noticing anything. Props for this nice little app.
Not used it before but I've just had two corrupted downloads in a row trying to get freespace 2 via the downloader program. Trying again using a normal download instead now.
edit: it's happened twice more now and using the direct download isn't working too great because it keeps getting cut off (bad connection sometimes).

What the gog downloader needs is the ability to check the integrity of the downloaded files. If for some reason a chunk of them is corrupted, then it should re-download that chunk. Kinda like how bit torrent works. It would save time if for some reason the download is corrupt since you would only have to re-download the corrupt parts of the install files.
I just downloaded painkiller and that is corrupted, so I'm going to have to download all 3.6GB again :-(
I'm also having issues with the downloader. Like every game I try to download it corrupt. This is a useless piece of software, and using the browser to download large games doesn't work because the files always cutoff before they're finished, and using a download manager doesn't seem to work either because big files seem to download soooo slow. It would be nice if I could download the games I've bought. While not having to use a client like Steam to play games, at least I've never had any problems downloading my 100+ Steam games using the client
It must be a problem on your end, try contactig support to get help.
I have problems with the downloader too but i found a way to work around it, Everytime i open it up to dl a new game it comes with " There was an unexpected error while initializing GOG Downloaer, please try to launch the app again" the title of the error is Adobe Air, Ive reinstall it a few times but i still get it. I basically just start it again and again until it work, sometimes 3rd or 4th try.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Or could it be just Adobe air just doesnt like my pc mabey?... At least i can still dl my games :)
