ZapMcRaygunn: Still, it was far more of an adventure game than a true RPG.
To be fair, that kind of applies to U7 as well. Your stats don't really matter that much, and the combat's just kind of there. The focus is pretty heavily on puzzle solving an hunting down clues from NPCs, which was sort of the series' trend since 4.

Which also keeps the games pretty playable today.

Sure stats matter! How am I supposed to use barrels for inventory management without the strength to carry them?
Barrels are for building barrel forts come on now.

And where will you get cannons to arm the forts if you can't haul them around in someone's luggage barrel? Be sensible.
That reminds me. Was I the only person that would make a point of cranking Sherry's Strength and Dex up enough that she could competently wear full armor and wield a broadsword?

Because the mental image is FANTASTIC.
Ultima 7 was my first PC Ultima game (I had played Ultima 3 on Nintendo) and I was very excited but then it had so many issues (maybe my machine and maybe the game itself) that I finally lost interest out of frustration. If GOG came out with a stable version that ran great in Windows 7, I'd pay well for it. I'd love to finally explore that world.

When it was revealed that the last game in this batch was Wing Commander 3, I was disappointed, but I hope it isn't out yet because they are working to make it run great for a later release. /fingerscrossed

Mister, Exult is a native windows U7 engine port. Run it in that, and use the keyring mod, which adds some neat stuff.
