I've been a "Life Member" of CH for a few years now. Their trainers are fine, but sometimes they host trainers for older games from groups like Deviance and ASX that don't work so well.

I've been knocking skulls with the owner of CH over his other pet project "CheatScapes", which is a site where independent trainer writers can sell their trainers for $2 a pop. The trainers on CheatScapes are updated a lot more than the ones on CH, which means that a trainer for the release version of a new game will show up on CH, but all the updated versions will show up on CS. For example, a trainer for the Patch #6 DX11 version of Aliens vs. Predator is available on CS, but CH only covers the DX9 versions. Of course, Chris' reaction to anyone who mentions CheatHappens and CheatScapes in the same breath is "blah blah blah, trainers on CheatScapes don't mean the end of development for trainers on CheatHappens" even though ten times out of ten that's exactly what happens.

And trainers aren't mods unless they use actual resources from the game. Trainers manage memory, and that's about it. If a trainer is written using actual code from the game, and not just by monitoring memory states from the game, then it's a mod, and should be made available for free.

And your more aggressive, less discriminate AV programs are going to show trainers as viruses because they modify memory in the background, which is something that viruses do.

Dzsono: May I suggest Cheat Engine - http://cheatengine.org
I've been happily using TSearch for years, but I'll check out this one as I haven't found an updated version of it for a very long time. Thanks for the tip =)

bansama: Gotta say, I'm impressed that so far, not one post has bitched about how people shouldn't be cheating in games. This same topic on other forums, would long since have deteriorated into a cesspit of whining about how others like to play their games.
IMHO people shouldn't cheat even in single player games. But at the end of the day, if people want to cheat in singleplayer the consequences are on them. I used to do it occasionally but I've found that I never go back and finish the game cleanly and at that point it's like what's the point of playing?

I'm not sure what you mean by consequences. And cheating for me is just like assistance, so I don't have to spend frustrating time trying over and over to beat a certain part of a game.

You lose out on the experience. I tend to feel that if I have to cheat to win a game or complete it then perhaps they should have just made the game correct in the first place.

Ultimately, it doesn't affect me so I don't spaz out about it, but cheating definitely does detract from the game in most cases.

I feel like I lose out on the experience if I can't even get close to finishing the game, so cheats help me to continue playing through it.
I cheat often in games with long stealth sequences, because those are the parts I suck at. I also cheat in games with hard-to-reach secrets and easter eggs if there isn't already a video showing the egg. It's like "why work hard to get to a part of the game that isn't even 'part of the game'?" Exceptions include Star Trek: Elite Force 2 and Anachronox and other games that make finding completely arbitrary, hidden objects fun.

Also, I've accumulated a queue of +200 games (damned Steam "75% off" specials), and if I don't cheat at some of the lengthier "difficulty spike" areas, I'll never get through them all. I've had Mass Effect 2 sitting here since it's release date, and all it's DLC too. I've gotten to where I don't need a difficult challenge to appreciate a game for it's sound or visuals.

Anyway, I don't see how it's any of your business. I paid the $60 for it. If I want to "ruin the experience", that's my affair. You act like I'm violating some sort of religious dogma, the way you all but preach the Word of the Legitimate Playthrough. Don't tell me how to enjoy an experience if I don't ask you.

Why finish the game cleanly if using cheats makes it more fun?
I used a trainer to max out my renegade and paragon on Mass Effect 2 because I hated the idea that I either go full good, full bad, or get screwed over and can't do any paragon/renegade stuff.
Granted that may fall under

Ultimately when that happens it's usually either because the cheat code was put in there as a goof off thing or they royally screwed up the game design. I know there've been some really amusing cheat codes over the years, but most of them have been put in there for development testing and left in.

lol, it's not my fault that you've got an ego that's way out of check.

Me, ego? I didn't address you directly, nor did I quote you.

No, but you did summarize what I was saying in a post immediately following one addressing me. Where I was the previous poster to that as well. And considering that I was the only person who posted in this thread anything at all remotely like that, it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that my ego has anything to do with it.

Regardless of whether or not it was me specifically to which you were responding, it's still pretty arrogant to interpret things in that fashion.

predcon: Snip
I've noticed too that a lot of the CS trainers have options that the CH ones don't. Often the options that make you want a trainer in the first place. I've not tried any of those though as I really don't like the entire payment system (paying extra to ensure you always have an updated version just reeks of the ol' extended download warranty system that DD stores used to use).

The camera control is indeed terrible in the PC version.

tfishell: I was just looking for a second or third opinion. I'm wanting to finish playing PoP: Sands of Time over Thanksgiving break, but I don't think I can beat the game without a trainer (unlimited health, probably). My antivirus software (AVG) claimed the trainer was a virus; CheatHappens clearly addressed this issue on one of their pages, saying it's a false positive, so I'm assuming I'm in the clear, but before I download and try it again I just want to see what you guys have to say.

Thanks.
Virus Scanners pop off because Trainers edit the memory of the process... it looks for a certain hex and injects its own values... if you want to give it a hand you can try a program called Artmoney its a memory analyzer and editor...

basically you run a game and tab to artmoney then take a snapshot of whatever your doing.. then do something in the game EG pick up gold or get hurt or jump whatever

then tab out check your code and compare what changed.. then slowly mod the value and inject the code into memory...

Hey, I just thought of your avatar, the Postal dude. You know, Postal 2 had some cheat codes that made the game a lot more amusing to mess around in (plus that A Week In Paradise mod); I know some of them you could legitimately win, but I'm not sure about all of them.
